Well it isnt a money pit untill it breaks, or you want more hp

your seriously asking what the horsepower it is and you say its your dream car. Your gonna learn alot read the stickies in the 3rd gen section. Most of what you need is in there. But base horsepower is 255hp and 210ft lbs.

Again, and not to be rude, but READ THE STICKIES at the top of the forum. You need to understand this car and what it needs (like stuff to take care of when you first get it, reliability modifications, etc.) before you start upgrading.

Good luck!

Obviously you haven't done even the most basic research on the car. I hope you've budgeted several thousand or more for repairs and maintenance or more if it needs a new motor. Did you get the car thoroughly inspected by a qualified rotary technician and get a compression check? Do you even know what you're getting into here with this car? Also these cars even in stock form are a real handful. Many experienced adults have wrecked these things so be careful. Your dream can very quickly turn into your worst nightmare if you don't do the proper research and inspection before buying the car.

Take it from a guy who purchased his FD 6 months ago when I was 18..DO NOT buy this car if you don't even know as much as the stock horsepower or torque..You will thank me a month or 2 down the road.Otherwise,I see 1 of 2 things in the near future:A thread saying "Help! My engine is blown!",or,another thread containing something along the lines of this..

There's a thread (or three) about it in the lounge....the 18-year old driver did it the first day he bought the car.

welcome.

read read read read read. before you even consider touching the car. thats the best thing you can do. theres so much information here that is REQUIRED for you to read.

seeing that you saved up the money in 2 months, you obviously have some money to play with, so not modding the car is probably going to be pretty hard to resist. if the cash is really burning a hole in your pocket go buy a nice set of wheels, but what ever you do dont touch the engine yet. even if you just need a new clutch, go read 50 threads about clutches. im sure joe mechanic or your buddy down the street will be pretty baffled when the tranny seems to still be stuck to the engine.

being that your young (like me), be careful with it like everyone said. im 19 now (got my car when i was 17) and ive been good to it so its been pretty good to me. i had all these plans for the car when i got it, and after reading here for 2 years, i havent modded anything. everything you do, there must be something done first, keep that in mind.

good luck. be open minded and make friends here.

I agree. I'm assuming that you got a loan and you saved the money for the down payment. In that case, DO NOT modify the car. Use any extra money to pay it off. One thing that you see a lot of is these things losing their value due to blown engine, vaccuum leak in the "rats nest" of the sequential system, ect. Getting a loan and still having $10k+ still on the loan when you blow the motor and the value drops to 7-8k is not good. Even if you say you'd just keep it and rebuild when you get the money is not a good idea. You never know when your life could take a turn for the worst and require you to sell.

Just my opinion though...

And like everyone said, read the FAQ's and Stickies.

We typically refer to that as being a "street pharmacist"

I'v Been Saving Up Money For The Car For The Longest Time I Dont Like To Borrow Money. And I Hate Credit Cards.(i Have One But I Out My Limit To Only 1k). In This Business You Can Make Up To 30-40k A Month, My Self I Average Around 15-20k. But I Help My Mom And Brother Out With Bills, I Dont Really Get To Enjoy My Money Becuase I Work From 830 A.m Till Around 9-930pm Monday Thur Saturday. I Have A Seperate Saving Account Just For My Car. Alot Of People Tell Me Its A Money Pit. Thats Why Every Deal I Close About 1/4 Of It Goes To My Rx7 Account(what I Like To Call It.)but Over All I Like What I Do. And Its 100% Legal Lol
