I'm going to wait for the few Hayes people to jump in and say something.

Badass- This realy sucks. If I where you, I'd think about talking to a lawyer, and maybe some of the other people Hayes has ripped off. My .02. CJ

What that sucks! I'd start collecting what you can for the case. It appears that you got screwed. They should bend over backwards to fix this or pay you back for the engine and lost time at the VERY least.

Hope it all works out for you.

I'm not surprised at all. A very well-respected engine builder (who has nothing but good things to say about most of his competitors) told me to avoid those guys. He didn't go into any detail though, just said they were shady.

Actually, my brother owns a law firm and is a ruthless cut-throat lawyer hehe.....the good kind. It will cost me nothing to do everything I can to Take Down Hayes Rotary and make them think twice about messing over true rotorheads that pay their hard earned $$ !! I am in the process of taking pics. and gathering all the evidence. It may be a long shot BUT I have nothing to loose in trying. I would've posted pics. on this forum but lately it's impossible to do so. I have more pics. to come.

This is exactly why I went with KDR for my rebuild. May be more expensive than some, may be longer than some, may be 6 hours away, but I know it'll be done right.

That really sucks, you should get at least a new engine and compensation for your time from them, and more if you make it a class action suit. Good luck man, keep us posted.

Wow.

That's fraud.
Negligence.
And some fuc*ed up repugnant shi*t.

I'm sure that with those photos and the "unbiased" testimony of a competent rotary mechanic *ahem* you can take them to the cleaners....

Talk to Ken (LUV94RX7) about his experience with Hayes while his car was at KDR, if he's willing to share.

Okay, I'll share my experience. My car was shipped to KDR because my rebuilt Hayes ported motor blew an apex seal. Hayes shipped KDR a new rebuilt under warranty. That motor was bad. Hayes sent another rebuilt and that was bad. Hayes sent the third motor which was bad. Due to Dave at KDR being very busy and Hayes dragging their feet on the replacement motors my car ended up being at KDR for over 2 years.
Finally on the last bad motor Dave said he was not going to deal with the problem anymore. He already had dealt with other bad Hayes motors with other customers and it was costing him too much money. He told me he would rebuild it. I ended up paying Dave to rebuild it. I also paid for everytime Dave had to pull and replace all these bad motors. All in all my car was out of commission for a long long time due to bad Hayes motors. It also cost me a ton of money. Hayes did send KDR the parts needed to rebuild the motor.

My car is running pretty good now after Steve Kan tuned it awhile ago.

WOW......3 times............that's just garbage. How do they stay in business is what I want to know. Well, I have real motor coming back finally and also having Steve Khan fly down here to street tune the Rx-7 Club of New Orleans rides. Can't wait to finally run right. Thanks for sharing your experience Ken.
