Smile New to the Forum

Hello, everyone this is my first time in the forum, just got my 93 Vintage Red Touring last Sunday. My first car, been begging my parents for the last 8 months, they finally caved.
Car has: Cross drilled brakes(think their Brembo), dropped(dont know specifics), Formula One tint, downpipe(don't know specifics, but gonna find out this weekend), Blitz Dual Turbo Timer, and swaybar, oh, and new motor with 150 miles(52,000 original miles).
Well, it has some problems, like the previous owner bypassed the power steering(used to be autox), and someone keyed it, a faulty ABS sensor, power antenna doesnt work, and horn doesnt work.
Just wondering if I can get some help, links, anything on how to fix and get the parts for the problems.
Sorry about the lenghth of the post.
Glad to be a member!!!

How old?

Almost 17, I won't drive recklessly. I really enjot the looks of the car( got plenty of compliments already) but love having the power, too. Plus I got to pamper the new motor for a while.

Yeah, I'm new too. Well, in a sense. I don't actually have a car yet, but I'm looking at my second one, a black '93 R1, tomorrow. Needless to say, I'll deffenitely have one in the next couple of weeks and will truly belong with the other enthusiasts of the 3rd gen RX-7. Which in my opinion are some of the most blinded warriors out there. This is a machine that single handedly earned a reputation that says, "Pray for forgiveness at the soles of my treaded feet for you did not know that I am undomitable." We may think that we are in control of it's future modified destiny. No. At best, we are loyal and trusted foot soldiers building our emperor into an un-beatable foe.

You ever think about becoming a writer, poet, or playwright? You're quite the sophisticant, very cosmopolitan.

Lucky kid I must admit. I know if I was age my parents would never let me drive around a car like the FD. Good luck with yours and like other have mentioned. Dont screw around with that thing.

Welcome to the club!

Take it easy on that motor for the first couple of thousand miles. Change the oil at 500 miles.

Before you even start it up again, check out the basic and reliability info on these sites:

http://www.rx7turboturbo.com/robrobinette/
http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/index.html
http://rx7.voodoobox.net/infofaq/bguide3g/bguide3g.html
http://www.iluvmyrx7.com/
http://7sins.rx7life.com/
http://www.maxcooper.com/rx7/

Bookmark these sites as they have tons of good info.

Where are in Cali? Post your location (or use the search function) and we can give you good RX-7 places to go to for when you have problems.

Also, unless you have good maintenance records, I would just go ahead and perform the 60000 mile service right now. Just to make sure everything is in good order.

Thanks for the welcome, and I really appreciate the sites. I was wondering what KZ1 meant by "forget the turbo timer"? Well, thanks and I will probably be asking plenty of questions.

Absolutely my good man. Let not, the toils of the rotory begin to defile your soul, for he who conquers the rotory shall receive the grand vision of his enemies in the rearview mirror and shall endure the delightful pleasure it brings!

I started out with a 1996 Chevy Cavalier 2.2 Talk about a bad *** car. I could hardly keep that monster on the road. I've grown up since then and went with something a little less powerful, a 300 hp RX7!! Yeah me. I wish my parents would have bought me a cool car instead of a MPG econo-car. My 100th post.

Better then a Buick station wagon! Funny how 'station wagons' are cool now. Is it me, or does it seem the demographic of FD owners shift downwards a couple age groups in the last year or so, hehe?

Anyways, welcome.

They are? Not around here. Around here all the cool people have Mustangs and Camaros. Big bad V8's don't mess with them or they'll blow your doors off. Ha

Wel, not 'stations wagons', but 5 door hatches (can't think of the term of the top of my head) - like the Protege 5, Toyota Matrix, Ponitaic Vibe (I luv the Pontiac commercial where the people comment on how solid built it is - it should be, its a Toyota!), Suburu WRX wagon... fancy (but fun) station wagons in my book, hehe.

Welcome! I started off with a 91 cavalier, added a full body kit, rims, spoiler, the works, even had a nitrous system running on it, hahahah. Damn that was stupid. I got my FD when I was 18, well I'm 19 now, haha. I've wanted one forever. Just some advise, GET IT TUNED PROPERLY WHEN YOU ADD MODS. I didn't and blew my engine with only 35k miles on it.

I was the same way about modding a car that wasn't worth the time. I had 17's, lowered, graphics on the side, supra tail, tint, intake, exhaust, subs, but no nitrous. What a waste of money. It wasn't my money so who cares though. Thanks mom.

Your first car?

You DO have life insurance, right? Oh well. I hope you don't kill yourself before you reach 1000 posts

Congrats on getting a car that is by NO means a first car.....
