New to the fd rx7 world
Hey so I just recently got a fd rx7 and I hear that it’s important to premix .
I’m the car is stock motor wise no mods .
Any tips I should know about premixing and any other thing to help it keep running good .

One thing for sure there are a lot of fear mongers that spew misnomers as necessities so read that and make up your own mind whether you need to premix, but premixing basically falls under your driving style. Also don't let fear of this car ruin the fun with a bunch of stupid rituals (I'm not saying your doing that but I've heard stories of people of doing all kinds of things each and every time they take the car out and I don't know about you but that would get old). The truth is that in relatively stock form, these cars aren't as unreliable as people make it them out to be. Key words relatively stock, because it turns out that it is the owners that make these cars unreliable when they start messing with them.
This is my suggestions if you want the least amount of hassle with this car:
- Do reliability mods
- Don't cheap out on this car when it needs fixing
- Change the oil every 2,000 miles
- Change the coolant once a year
- Don't be afraid to redline this car as it is designed to clean off carbon build up at the higher RPMS
- Don't over heat it
- Before shutting down the car just cruise to your destination (no WOT) the last 5 minutes to cool down the oil going through the turbos.
- Steam clean the engine internals every 20K miles (to clean carbon build up)

Just to add to Montego’s post, I’m not sure about PA’s (where the OP is located) emissions regulations but you would not want to premix with a functioning OMP before any emissions testing.
And while both premixing and running the OMP doesn’t seem to bother a modern hi-flow cat, I’m not certain of long term effects on the stock cat.

here in pa where I live they only look for a check engine light and check windshield
, if premixing isn’t gonna cause the checklight to go on ( which I dnt think it will ) I should be fine .
