well, thats not the case, im 15 years old and have only owned one other car before this one which was a n/a FC that was in perfect running order and i had to do nothing with it while i've owned it so i have no experience with working on or maintaining cars and i have absolutely 0 mechanical skills and dont have a drivers license.

Well it's a good thing you have the knowledge at such a young age. Whenever you learn the mechanical aspects of these engines, you will then truly see that there is nothing special about maintaining them. When I first got my Fd, I too thought that it would need special care but experience has showed me otherwise. My Fd has nearly overheated 3 times (radiator hose leak) and the only routine maintenance has been regular oil changes at 3k. Hell I've even forgot to change the oil at one point and the oil light same one a couple times. I replace the plugs and fuel filter every 12k and flush the coolant every 24k. I also use the water steam cleaning method twice a year to help with carbon. And just recently I've been using engine flush with my oil changes. Right now I'm due for an oil change and the oil is still clear. That's it. Oh yea I let the AWS do it's thing at start-up without blipping the throttle. I'm telling you these things to let you know that the engine can take some abuse and still remain reliable as a daily driver. I think daily driving mine is one of the main reasons it's so reliable. Cars that sit up tend to have more problems.

the 8 is shared and the title isnt under my name and i didnt pay for nearly the majority of it obviously.

im getting my license in a little over a week too haha but i have more driving experience than any of my older licensed friends

i got a really good deal on the FC so i was able to buy it with money i had saved and even then it wasnt that big of a hit and i made back every penny of it and then some, the FD is another story of course(but i still paid a lot less than the car is worth)

well i've been raised from a working class family and learned things like worth ethic and humbleness so i always am gracious to advice and never boast my knowledge because i'm still learning. Thank you for your maintenance reccomendations, they were very helpful, and i havent been messing with the AWS and letting it work rpms down on its own, which seems to have been a good choice. The car will be daily driven but thats not saying much because its in cool california weather and only about 20 miles a week on smooth roads and with other cars readily available in case the car gets put out of comission temorarily.

StealthFOx i'de say you have a good head on your shoulders, keep it up, 15 and already owned 1 car has 1 not his yet it is, and a FD, you are obously doign something right, so keep it up show some of the other owners what it means to be humble and wanting to learn. don't lose the stuff you have learned.

haha i knew someone would request this, as soon as its complete and everything there will be a FULL thread on it at rx8 club with real pics and a writeup and everything. its still a work in process and theres only a few boosted 8s running around without the junk greddy kit, so these projects are few and far around at this point, it's a 60-1 setup but tuning will be so vital because the motor is 100% factory with the rx-8s high compression and im moving from the dark ages and getting a digicam to take pics soon so you guys can actually see the fd in detail.

20 miles a week? Damn I do that on a daily bases. No wonder my miles are so high. Good luck with your car.

Are you going to be running that new intercepter X ecu for the 8? I would contact Crispeed on this forum for advice since he is an expert at tuning high compression rotarys.

no, most likely its going to be a crappy TSI ems setup for now, the interceptor X might be a possibility we'll see how it works out but for the most part its the users of the upcoming upgraded greddy turbo kit from mazsport and there are a few n/a guys that are gonna be using it and some guys with the regular greddy kit as well. the setup will have a custom CAI, 321SS headers, spearco intercooler setup, 304SS dp, as well as 550 cc injectors and running around 9 psi to hopefully make around 325 from the turbonetics t4. im going to want to catch up to the rx8 because its going to absolutely maul my FD in raw power and torque but i'll try to resist temptation to molest the car plus it will keep me from going totally broke haha. i'll make sure to let you know how things turn out and link you to the pics when its done. things are going a bit slow because i have to worry about the reliability mods and blow off valve for the FD at the moment.

I have to agree with Rufio here. How can you say you own these cars ???? not even old enough to drive much less bought them or tittled one (legally) perhaps your like the other kid that owns one ony the car resides in another state and a relative is the one taking care of it for him. Who's taking care of your car ? ? ?

um what the ****, the car is outside my house right now and i have the key right on my keychain right now would you like for me to go setup my camcorder and demonstrate that the car is outside my house and i can drive it at my leisure and that i am the owner of the car and "take care" of the car? Why the hell would i come here and waste my time to find out whats the best way i can spend all of my money(and around 2000 dollars is a lot of money for 16 year old) on tedious, boring reliability modification that are FAR from fun for a 16 year old kid instead of blowing it all on rims, neon lights, a bodykit and an audio system? because im a responsible rx7 owner that has some common sense(and some taste in car modifying i would never put an audio system or neon lights in an FD) I've put so much time and effort into coming of the ownership of this car i have no peers that can come close. dont come here and try to **** talk me implying i dont own, maintain or drive my car when you don't know ANYTHING about my situation and interfere with my thread where people are helping me givng useful information that don't discriminate and want to help rx7 owners that are passionate about their cars, regardless if they are 16 years old or 30 years old.

-edit-
also, senior member i'm suprised you don't have the common sense to look two posts past rufio's and see half of your condescending questions have been answered.
