New FD Owner, Boost Problems?
Hi everybody, I just picked up an FD. Its a great car, on the downside its an automatic, but I got it for a good deal so converting it the 5sp in the future is no big deal.
Its a 93, bone stock and the only mod I have is a boost gauge. The car is an auto so I know it should be a little slow, but this car is really slow. The engine has 98,000 miles, it feels real strong I just don't think it is boosting properly. The machanic at the shop said he fixed everything and the turbo is running properly, he even said he adjusted my waste gate spring so I could get a little more engine response.
My boost gauge reads like this: From a stop I get 1psi in first gear, then it shifts to second and I get up to 5 psi, when I downshift from 2nd to first I get 10 psi. Is this right? From searching I should get 10-8-10? I am not sure when I am supposed to get that reading though. My n/a FC feels like it is faster, at least it will sorta snap your head back off the line.
Since I am new to FD's I hope some of you with automatics might be able to help me out. I've tried searching, but I don't really know what I am looking for. The only semi conclusions I have are that I either need a downpipe and/or a hose kit.
thanks

check all hoses and intake pipes (starting from y pipe,ic,and to TB
those pipes are know to crack from heat ( and plus ur engine has 98k so it mite be a probable cause )and hoses pop off occasionally
carb cleaner works well when tryin to detect boost leaks
