A new FD owner!!

Hey guys,

Greetings from Germany, but soon to be Italy in December!

So I've been roaming the forums here now for about the past 2 months, even before I owned my FD. I just picked it up about 3 weeks ago, and so far I love it more than anything. I smile every time I see the car, and turn around and look at it multiple times after parking it. Anyways, I'm happy to be part of this forum and part of the rotary family for the next 2+ years that I will have the car. I'll fill you guys in on the details below.

So this 1993 J-Spec RX-7 Type-R was for sale for 2 days and I was already too slow to contact the owner. When I called, he said somebody was already coming to pick it up. Anyways, about 2 weeks later, the ad goes back up and I IMMEDIATELY called him again. He said that the sale fell through because the buyer couldn't get the money and I jumped on it asap. I drove 40 minutes with a $500 deposit that following weekend to meet him. I fell in love with it on sight!

Here are the specs when I bought it

1993 J-Spec Type-R
88,500 KM on the clock
99' Spec tail lights
99' Spirit R front bumper and lip
99' Spirit R side skirts
BBS LM 17x8 et35 17x9 et35
Ohlins Full Coilovers
Blitz Nur Spec exhaust
Greddy Elbow
Greddy 3 pc. Intercooler piping
HKS Super Mega Flow Dual Intakes
MOMO Steering wheel
Type RZ shift **** and boot
Keyless entry

The interior was in pretty good shape overall, only problems it really had were the center console/hvac control panel/driver door panel were really scratched up.

The exterior had a lot of swirls and blemishes but I have already had a full detail with it being clayed and having the paint restored

The previous owner knew his rotaries and kept the routine maintenance up to date with some reliability mods done (not all)

Within 3 days of me going to see the car, it was in my name and in my hands

Within the past 3 weeks, I've put 2,000 KM on it! I won't be driving it that much anymore and will be getting a beater/DD very soon, so I can keep the KM down on it.

I have already put in:

-OEM floor mats
-Defi BF boost gauge and Link controller
-JDM Flare :P (there was a spot for it, so I had to buy one)
-Megan Short Shifter

Currently sitting at my place waiting to be installed are:

-Megan 3" Downpipe
-Russell SS brake lines

-Greddy Turbo Timer
-Greddy Profec B Spec II Boost Controller
-HKS SSQV III BOV
-HKS radiator cap

Parts in the mail:

-OEM Driver side switch panel
-OEM Driver side door handle panel
-OEM Shifter center console panel
-OEM HVAC control panel
-OEM arm rest
-OEM Efini Key <-- The Mazda dealership by me can't even cut the key?! They were so surprised to even see an FD, I guess the sales were extremely limited in Europe
-Knight Sports AST
-Greddy Elbow with HKS Flange welded on
-Magnaflow High Flow Catalytic Converter

I have much in plan for this FD, even though I can't take it back to the states when I move back, I will be taking some of the parts with me and hopefully finding a FD in the states that I can put them on.

I've already taken her to the Nurburgring on this past Sunday and broke her in! It was so nice to drive on the Nordschleife and I couldn't believe that people wanted to take pictures of my lowly FD with F430's and GT3RS's all over the place!

Well, that's all that I can think of to ramble for now. Here are some pictures that I have promised. I will be doing a little shoot when the weather here permits!

Looks great and I always love seeing BBS LM wheels.
Sell the Megan downpipe because I doubt it'll fit on RHD (unless I'm wrong).

Thanks for all the comments! I'll get some picture from the Ring up.

I made the mistake of making my first account using that Facebook thing, and the link isn't always working, which drove me crazy.

So I just made another one.

Are you sure that's an Odulas lip? It doesn't stick out on the sides as much and it doesn't come out as far foward.

Small bump on advice from you guys for what to do next?

I'm still picking up small oem stuff to fix up the interior.

Performance wise has been pretty slow due to work and moving to Italy, however I'm trying to pick up a Knight Sports ECU that's been apparently tuned for intake full exhaust and an intercooler.

I'm also looking at a Trust SMIC along with new brake pads, rotors, spark plugs, wires, SARD thermostat, Samco radiator hoses, Efini Y pipe, SS clutch line.

Where do you guys think I should go from here? I like to keep my reliability and small power gains to keep me happy. I was thinking about new sway bars as well?

Always looking for input. Thanks in advance

Also, doing an oil change soon and draining all the fluids. Just drove 14 hours from Germany to Italy and time to do a tune up. Having to switch to Semi-Synthetic Mobil 1 oil since they don't carry Castrol GTX here.

Picked up new Falken FK452's back in November and they are still running strong.

With everything I have, I'm just looking for what to do next or if I have missed something important?

The boost is still turned down to 8-6-8 and I'm turning it back up to 10-8-10 when I install my boost controller.
