Red face New engine sources

-I have a 93 R1 that I have not had time to work on since February. When I last drove it, it began to idle roughly and stalled completely while cruising along in third gear. I pulled over and tried to start the engine, but no luck. After waiting about five minutes, the car started and I drove it a mile or so back home. It sat there until a week ago.

I installed an Efini Y pipe, underdrive pulleys, removed the air pump and installed a new battery. I also looked for any blown vacuum lines while doing this work. This morning I cranked the car up. It idles horribly at about 1,300rpm. Before, it would idle smoothly at 850 rpm. I am reading -14lbs of vacuum on the boost gauge at idle.

Questions? Do I have a blown Apex seal? Any quick checks besides a compression test to verify this? Who is selling rebuilt engines at the best prices? Thanks!

This sunds word for word what happened to my car, it's in the shop right now with supposed blown apex seals... I was asking for information myself to see if this was the case or no, so If you hear anything else I'd like to know as well...

Check the vac hoses, especially the once going to the underside of the boost sensor on the driver side firewall.

I checked the hose to the map sensor (and most all of the other hoses as well). They all seem to be fine. Looks like the motor has bitten the dust. Now the questions are: where do I get a motor and do I do the swap or have a shop do it? Any opinions of engine sources and repair shops in the GA/NC/SC area?

Thanks,

Rocky

I'm in Raleigh, NC, the place i go to is McNair Performance, they just happened to be local. Though if you're in GA, maybe heading down to Pettit would be worth the drive.... I know I'd like to head that way just to check out the banzai.
