New Engine and oil level

I put a new crate 13B in my touring model 94 Rx7. The engine has no oil in it. The FSM says that the touring model takes 5.2 US Qts. So I put five quarts in. But now the dipstick shows that there is a quart too much. So if I crank the engine to build up oil pressure will the engine suck this extra quart into the system? Is the car only supposed to have 4 quarts in the pan and one in sucked into the engine?

Thanks,

there shouldnt be a problem with just an quart extra. crank it to prime the system, then start it and let it warm up fully
then see where your oils at if its completly dry then it prolly will take some of that extra oil , or some of it will go into the oil cooler and stuff also.

Dont forget oil has to travel to the oil cooler(s) depending if you have a single or dual oil coolers.

If you are CERTAIN the engine had zero oil in it, then just start it up for a couple of minutes, shut down, wait a couple of seconds and check dipstick.

start it for a bit.. let it circulate... then don't touch it til tomorrow. the oil needs time to get back down into the pan to take an accurate level.

I thought base and touring FDs took 3.5 and R1/2s 4.7?

Dont forget to pre-oil the turbos. Ive had a couple people tell me that its important to do that. Ive also had a couple people say that its not needed. I do it just in case because it makes sense to me.

I think thats what kompressorlogic means by priming.

I cranked the engine 3 times for 10-15 seconds to build oil pressure.

Thanks,
