new engine break-in?? a couple of ?? that i couldn't find in searching.

I've got a brand new motor that has never been fired. It's got a street port with upgraded 2mm seals.....blah blah blah. Anyway....is there a place where i can find a checklist or something to go down before starting? I've got the PFC with base maps.....should i start it with that? Which oil should i start with and run? The searches i found were kinda vague on everything that i want to know. I'm just trying to get everything together so i don't get ahead of myself and mess something up. I'm really excited about starting it!!!! I'm going to video everything for reference.

Please don't flame me for asking the already asked questions.....i'm just nervous and don't want to screw it up. I've redone everything myself from scratch

thanks in advance

Most engine builders say break it in for 500 miles under 4000 rpm, then start pulling higher in the rev band at 650 it's ready.

Mr rx7: thanks for the info.

Is there a certain type of oil to run on break-in.? Should i run premix during the break-in?

Everything is new......tranny,clutch,flywheel,rear end, suspension, etc......I've never had this much stuff changed all at once.

I shouldn't say this but...When I rebuild my motors I break them in at idle for 15 minutes, I then drive the car around normal for 10 miles or so make sure everything runs correctly, no coolant or oil leaks etc. and then....well you get the picture. My rebuilds typically last for 100,000 or more miles and I have never had a problem with any of them. I talked to PFS about this once and they said they do this also. Their drag car went from rebuild to track (no break in) and lasted three years. I do not suggest this to people I rebuild for though. Break it in slowly for 500 miles (under 4000 rpm) and change the oil. Then rev it higher building to redline by 650 miles. I like pennziol 10W-40 and change it every 1500 miles. (not before or after always 1500 miles and the same brand.) This is also good for a new clutch etc.

"If you had a new or rebuilt engine installed, observe the "break-in" rules. Negligence will be costly since the warranty will be voided and the engine may sustain irreparable damage in extreme cases. Be easy on the motor for the first 500 miles. This means, a) no heavy load hauling, b) do not exceed 4000rpm, c) do not exceed 70 mph in top gear, and d) do not drag race. After putting 500 miles on the motor, change the oil and filter, retension the belts, check all hoses, and look carefully for any oil and fuel leaks.. "

That's per rules of RP.

**** yeah, finally someone who agrees with me. I started a thread about this a while back: www.rx7club.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=61204

Silvr94r2, if you're confident its built right, long break in periods are pointless. Even if you want to be overly cautious, just build up boost little by little until you reach the desired boost level you would normally drive at.
