Hey everyone, I'm Kyle. I just recently picked up a 93 fd3s and am very exited to become a rotory owner. The car is unfunitly an automatic but I have plans to swap that out with a jdm swap. the car was a great price, $3000, with 104,000 on it but she looks like showroom condition, i'll get some pics up as soon as i can. anyway just wanted to say i finally got an fd!

2 quick things, 1: JDM swap = useless 2: it's rotary not rotory.

That aside, Let's see some pics in the "Post Pics Of Your FDs Here" thread. And yeah $3k is a pretty good deal on a running FD, even if it is automatic.

Congrats, welcome to the club.

Yeah, but unlike the VW forums, we don't play nice. Start yourself off by reading the stickies at the top of this forum and going to the mechanic sticky in the NorthEast forum and finding a rotary mechanic local to you.

All of the "insane" deals I have ever heard of are never in heavily populated states (CA, NY, etc.). They always usually have a critical flaw, too. Regardless, $3k is an "insane" deal for a RUNNING FD, even if it's an auto. Granted it's most likely on its first motor and needs a replacement soon, a new motor + manual tranny swap will still put you ahead a few grand.

Take your time, don't mod until you've maintenanced the hell out of it.

You got a great deal, and if you treat it well it will still be a great deal. $3k barely buys a rolling shell with a clean title.

yea thanks agian for everything guys. it is in mint condition and the guy said its a new motor with a 2 rotor...this i have not been able to confirm, but i have an appointment with this local shop that works on fd's. he's one of my accounts and is going through the whole car this week. the guy i bought it from said that he bought it a few years ago and has only put 5000 on the "new" motor. he's retiring and moving so thats why it was so cheap.

Welcome Kyle. give the auto a chance!.. since you say its in showroom condition. before you do a swap put some 4.33 gears in the rear end. it makes a big difference in the way the auto responds. anyway at $3,000.00 its a steal "I would say something is up here" I hope you get this checked out as soon as possible by a rotary shop and have motor vehicles run a vin history this thing may be stolen. the owner could have got 3 times the price without trying. anyway hope it turns out ok and you just got a smoken deal. if you need more info on the auto let me know.
Jeff

a running manual FD with 113k miles for $9k is a damned good deal, too. FDs are +- immune to mileage depreciation...I've seen them with 200k+ miles in good shape go for $12k+
