It's a cheap PepBoys emblem that is gracing thousands of Honda's across the US.

what you didn't know is that R badges add 35 more horsepower to the front wheels, much like R stickers, but without the lag!

OR maybe it stands for Rambler! The "R" looks just like one that was on my first car, a '63 Rambler American wagon....

So a few years ago, an employee of mine decided to play a prank on me. He was a BMW guy (I am not), and so he took a real BMW badge, about 4" in diameter and double sticky taped it over the Mazda FD logo (same spot as above pic). As it turned out, I didn't notice it and I took the car to my insurance adjuster that day to have it inspected for damage to the LF headlight and fender. Anyway, the adjuster snapped several pics of the front of the car, then he broke out laughing hysterically.... And about that same time I noticed the BMW plaque and promptly removed it--but of course, the damage was already done. I had already drove all over town with that stupid thing on my car. It was humiliating!!!

Looking back, I completely understand it now--If I was a BMW, I'd wish I were a FD, too!
