Need your opinion BAD!!

I have a 97 Acura 2.2CL. It has everything possible done to it that it can. I was going to sell it and buy an FD b/c I love the car more than any car I have ever come across. I know a lot about the car, and my friend owns an import shop, so fixing it won't be a problem. My question is since I paid off my Acura, I am thinking about taking a loan out for the FD and keeping my Acura for commuting. I am a senior in college after this semester, so I think it would be better off for me to keep the Acura too. Do you guys think this is smart? I will only be able to spend about 13k if I keep the Acura, but if I sold it I could spend much more. What would you do?

First off I would hold off on buying one until you graduate, trust me on this one. The last thing you need in college is another financial burden, I have been through it.. I think your education should come first and then concentrate on getting an FD. Definitely keep the Acura I would say.

Sell the acura buy a 1k beater and by the Best FD you can find. The extra bucks up front will save you cash and headaches down the road. Drive the beater every day and save the FD for fun time.

I too am a senior in college, and just bought my FD about 2 months ago. I DO have a miata to mess around in and (knock on wood) should something break on the FD. I was fortunate enough to find an exceptional FD, however, there's always a chance, and it's good to have a backup. If the condom breaks...

Keep the acura, and start saving for the FD. Put down a FAT down payment on it. That's my opinion anyways.

but amp...that would make too much sense!

I would keep the acura if you like it a lot (which it seems you do if you have dumped that much money into it), save up, graduate, then buy the fd, mod the heck out of it, live in the acura and drive the fd

An important thing to consider is a lot of banks will not give you a loan on that old of a car (either that, or the interest rate will be very high). When I got my 95 FD 3 months ago, the bank wanted over 9% interest, even on a 3 year loan. I ended up just paying cash for it.

I second that motion. Actually, buy the FD and drive it daily until you graduate. Then when you're settled after college, buy the beater. Sometimes it's tough to move when you have two cars to drive

Btw, I bought my R1 as a college senior 3 years ago, and don't regret it one bit. You only live once

for those of you who recommend instant gratification...its kewl
although it may not lead to financial issues in the future...
it will definitely NOT lead to better options...priority

i was there...sold my first 3rd gen, crotch rocket, and 2 other cars among other things for the home ...had years of painful void as priority took hold...now: 2 car garage filled with 2 R1s

Yeah amp has a good idea.. I'm only 21 not in college and just blew about 20k on my 7... I should have just put it down for a house.. I'd have equity instead of debt. I've been out of a car for 5 months.. Between working, sleeping and eating i don't have much time to work on the car... And i don't want to nor can I afford to pay someone else to work on it. If you do plan to buy a seven, find one in good running conditon and just pray nothing goes wrong... hehehehe.. But i'll be done here in another week or so.. I pray nothing else goes wrong...

Damn, thanks for all the replies. You guys are really confusing me. As I said before, I paid off the Acura, so the only money I spend a month is insurance, and I just bought a new four wheeler. My delima is that after I graduate my living situation is not going to be a real problem. And as I said before a good friend of mine owns an import tuner shop, so he would be able to hook me up with all parts, labor, etc. so that won't be a problem. My only real problem is should I not worry about the headaches and wait(the mature thing), or should I go with the "you only live once stance?" I am really torn hear, just live out my senior year with no debt, or live my senior year wishing I was stretching out supras and other cars alike? Thanks in advance for all of your input.
