Need a wiretap location.

I'm going to add a IC fan and want to know the best place to tap for power. I would like the fan to be on whenever the engine is running if possible. If not I would like it to be on when the accessories are on.

I don't want it to be on only when the radiator fans are on as I view the IC and rad as two independent systems.

If someone has a pic handy where they can show a picture with an arrow pointing to the tap point that would be even better!

Thanks!

I ran a wire from the cig lighter (20A), through a spare fog light switch in the console, to the fan. Then I just ran a short wire from the fan to ground.
The cig lighter is only powered when the key is on. If you want the fan on all the time, you could eliminate the switch in the circuit. Only concern would be that the fan would turn on while you were starting the car. If you had a weak battery it might be a problem.

The wire passes through the firewall near the clutch pedal.
If your sharp you can get the fog light switch to light up when you turn the fan on

I really don't want a manual switch, just a wire that allows me to hit a hot wire so the fan works once the car is started...

Thanks for the help.

^^^ Can anyone provide a easy location for me to tap into an accessory level power source for my IC fan? Seems like the cig lighter is a bit of a distance to run power from.

Thanks for the reply!

Garfinkle ran several wires fron the fuse block main wire on the fire wall near your left foot. the box was un bolted to attach the wires ( all are fused ) one to the ic fan switch ,one to the elect fuel gage one to the J&S unit . If your fan goes bad do you not want a switch to turn off , or save juice when you are at speed and do not need the fan.
