Exclamation Need Taillight removal instructions quick....attempting '99 J-spec conversion!

Actually, I'm mailing them to a guy who'll do it for 60 bucks

But, how do I get the damn things off? As I recall, it's kinda tricky if you've never done it before.

Anyone?

Thanks guys--

Remove the center brake light (a couple screws i'll bet), remove anything that looks like it might hold the tail lights on (screws, bolts, i don't remember). Then make a fist, and gently hit the lights from the center towards the outside of the car, they'll slide about an inch or so, then you can lift them off. Hope that helps.

PS- are you having Ryan do them? he does awesome work.

HOLD ON!!!

Before you start banging **** up... I think you need to take the three screws out that are above the light when you open the hatch. I could be wrong, but I just thought I'd say something before you broke a $500 set of lights. Worst case scenario is that you wasted 30 seconds.

Oh, I did this mod myself using a heat gun, round stickers and black paint. I guess it is kind of a pain to do it yourself, but I had some spare time one weekend so I said WTF.

Later.

The trick is instead of pulling out (given you're standing behind the car) you pull to the side. They slide out sideways... really easy to remove

Yeah, you have to unscrew the bolts on top of the lights. Then, you push and pull the lights outward to the side of the car. A few small bumps will loosen the light covers up.

I also do light conversions. I only charge $50. It's not too hard but it does take 4-5 hr or so due to spray painting. I put a lot of light coats on and clean up the lense and cover thoroughly before putting the assembly back. The results are great so I highly recommend that people get it converted.

If anyone is interested in having them done, feel free to email me at davidDchang@yahoo.com.
