need someone's experties...car died
ok i was about to leave work and the car wont start! it has a new engine put in 2weeks ago car has been running good for the past week and left it home for one week didnt drive it. And when i did the car died. Ok when i start it the rotors just spins and I dont smell any gas that the car is getting flooded. I got someone to smell the exchaust and see if they can smell any gas or if the car is gettin flooded but they said its not there was alot of air coming out though but it didnt smell like gas at all. Ok so then i got someone to try to listen and feel if the fuel pump is running and they said its not at all. So what i did is called my friend to pick me up and figure something out later (this when i almost blew the car in pieces). when he got to my work to pick me up we tried to start it again and magicly it started. Ok i got back intown and park it and next thing you i was going to get some food the car wont start again same sympthom!! ahh its really frustrating. then few hours later i tried again magicly it started i got it home!! next day i tried to drive it but noooooooooo the car wont start now!! now has anyone had the same problem im having?? is it the fuel pump..I know its not the fuses or relays. I have reseted my PFC 5 times and even try to put my stock ecu into still dont work..... Please help!!
Thanks and sorry for the esay hehe

One word. Warranty
Sounds like a bad starter signal. I wouldn't think that it would be the fuel pump since you have been able to drive it when you do get it started, and if it were intermittant you would have power cutting in and out while driving.
The starter signal could be an idication of a bad ignition switch or a wire short from the ignition to the ECU pin no.1C
It could also be fouled plugs.

does your starter crank at all? If it doesnt or sometimes it does,it might be your ignition switch. it's a white switch on the left hand side of the steering column. It's the switch you tap the turbo timer wiring harness to. I burned up two of those already cuz I have too many wires attached to it. I had the same symptom when the switch is going bad. Borrow a switch from your friend and see if it works. good luck.

To check if you getting any sparks from the plug, disconnect the fuel pump relay. Pull the plug wire with the spark plug attached to it to a ground point such as the studs of the shocks. Hold it close to the stud. have some one crank the engine to see if you get any sparks at all. If you get sparks, I would suspect there is something wrong with your fuel system.

I had the same problem But it went away. It made a weird cranking noise... kinda like a whirring sound but no compression it seemed. towed it to a shop and they got it to start up... Maybe... Hmmm.. How old is your battery? I think that the shop just charged up my battery and it started fine/ lots of smoke though. I even pulled some relay to see if that was the culprit.. i think it was a fuel relay or something sounds like a fuel problem or lack of CCAmps enough to crank but not enough to prime the fuel system.

rx7kelvin,
First, Check for an intermittent fuel pump relay. You said the pump does not run at all. Does it turn on for a few seconds, then shut off if you just turn the key to on (not try to start it)? If so, the relay probably is working properly.
Second, Check the Circuit Opening Relay. This supplies power to the fuel pump resistor.
Third, check the EGI Main Relay. This provides the connection to the fuel injectors. I had a Mazda 323 with a bad EGI relay that caused the fuel injectors to not fire. Had no fuel in the engine, had spark, timing correct, fuel pressure, etc. You can use an electric sensor to see if you get power to the injectors. Electricians use them, they are like pens that light up when electricity is present. Just hold it near a fuel injection power wire. If the contacts are bad, they can become intermittent.
Fourth, there is a Fuel Thermosensor shown in the diagram. Maybe this is causing your problem. It is located in the rats nest area by the injectors. I assume it is tied into the fuel rail somewhere there. Not sure this is it as it ties back into the factory ECU.
