need some help with an idle problem

It just started doing this off and on a few weeks ago but I haven't done any work to the car to cause any problems.
The idle is low around 500 rpms and kinda bounces +,- 100 rpms. Kinda like its cammed. If it had cylinders I'd swear one wasn't firing. Also its stalled on me a few times then starts hard. It seems to only happen when the cars hot but 80% of the time its fine. I'm only pullin 16 in of vacuum but I've checked for vacuum leaks and adjusted the tps but I still have the problem. The check engine light hasn't come on when this happens but I have gotten a code 9 for water temp sensor some times when the car is warming up. I'm guessing its just a dead spot. Any ideas for my idle problem?

I have a street-port, so YMMV. My car idles best at 800-1000 rpm. Any lower, and it tries to stall and "idle hunts". I think 500 rpm is just too low. There are several places the idle can be adjusted...just do a search on how to do it correctly (you need to ground some pins in the DIAGNOSIS box).
BTW, 16 mmHG vacuum at 500 rpm is prob. okay.

Ok well I think its getting worse. I just went and started it when it was cold it was idling around 1200 rpms but very ruff and almost stalling. Like the whole car was rocking and if you blip the throttle it will stall some times. Am I just running extremly rich at start up? What would cause this? The strange part is when its warm or after I've driven it and stop at a red light it idles fine at 800.
The cars all stock except for a down pipe and I removed the air pump.

If you are on the stock ECU, then removing the air pump is your problem.

But I removed the air pump about 2-3 weeks ago and haven't had a problem. Why would it just start doing this now?

You might not have noticed it as much. Are you still running a cat? Why did you remove the air pump?

If you search, I think there was a thread a while back about using a resistor to trick the stock ECU into thinking the air pump is still connected.

I really don't think this has anything to do with the air pump. Its a new problem and very noticable. You can see the whole car rock. its like a really bad miss. It only happens during start ups during the first few mins. after that everything is fine.

Nope its not my problem. Like I've been saying its more then just a rough idle. It seems like it missing, stalling out and barly able to idle at all. Besides I remove the air pump almost a month ago and the problems just started a few days ago. But thanks anyway.
Any one else have any other ideas?

Yep, those were the exact same symtoms I had when I unplugged my air pump on the stock ECU. It was fine for a while (first drive) and then it got progressively worse. It felt like it was going to die at every stop light.

Try it. Put the air pump back in and see if it goes away. in the least, you can find a resistor to trick the stock ECU into thinking it's there. There are many threads on this, but most people who have tried to remove the air pump on the stock ECU needed to move the idle WAY up to keep the car from stalling.
