Need some help Fellas, think the beast blew

What's up guys. Today, a friendand I were on the 22 fwy in Orange County. He has a 350Z and always messes with me when were cruising places. It was about 10:45pm, empty fwy, and he kept messin with me to run him. He downshifted while he was next to me and I was like screw it, I downshifted to into 3rd, throwing my revs to about 4k. We were goin pretty slow. Anyways, he honks 3 times, 3rd honk being the go, so I open up the beast. Usuallly when the transition occurs, I would feel a much bigger kick but this time I did not, and looking at my PFC Commander, I was hitting full boost. I reached 6k, and bamn, I head this loud pop/bang. I let off immediately and shifted to neutral. My friend lets off as well becuase he heres the pop too. So then I shift into 5th to let the car cruise and not stress the engine. All was good for a few minutes, then i heard numerous backfires from the exhaust. THen engine just died on me. Lucky I was albe to roll to a safe offramp. Tried to start it up again, but it just cranks, doesnt catch on to start. Has anyone ever had this problem? I think I might have leaned out becuase of the midpipe. These are the mods I have:

New Silicon Hoses (Stock Twins), Apexi FMIC, Apexi Power FC + Commander, HKS Down Pipe, Mid-Pipe, Greddy Ti Racing Exhaust. Please help...

Do you have a boost gauge? How much boost were you running?

Check to make sure the MAP sensor is still connected first. Does it sound like the engine has compression when cranking?

I have the APEX'i Power FC commander and I was actually doing the boost test when the apex seal blew. Went 10-8-10 but then as soon as I heard the bang it spiked a lilttle and then thats when I let off. I talked to Jeff at rotary power, he thinks it's an apex seal. But I still have to tow the car to his shop (only like 5 miles from where I live). If it's blown, he's gonna do a build on it. Thanks for the posting fellas. I'll keep everyone updated on what happened. Take care.

Jeff could tell you as soon as you bring it in.... in the way it happened it's verry possible it's the motor, but not starting could be all kinds of other issues, you should get a boost gauge, even if it's not starting you should see some vaccuum while cranking....

Whenever you have a situation like this, always do a compression test and start with the easy stuff - MAP sensor vacuum line popped off, intercooler pipe popped off, etc. The compression test will tell you whether or not it's the motor, then you can go from there.

Most times engines go with very little sound effects - no big pop or bang.

did you check on the peak hold on the PFC, it would have told you how high you spiked to..

Thanks for all the posting fellas. Yeah, Jeff hasn't had an opening where I can bring in the car yet, but as soon as he does I'm going to tow it there. You guys have any ideas why it just cranks and doesn't start up? I don't want to get my hopes up of not having a blown motor so for now I'm expecting the worst. I hope it's not a blown engine, but I have a feeling it is. Atleast it wasnt a seal failure I guess, and there was no fire or nothing, a buddy of mines blew his engine and it caught on fire. Totaled the beast.
Has anyone heard of Atkins Rotary's Rebuild and Pinaple Racing's Rebuild? How do they compare up to Jeff's at Rotary Power. I have yet to come accross a horor story from Rotary Power, anyone hear anything? Thanks in advance fellas.
