Hello, I am a new RX7 owner. 1993 pearl white. anyways the motor is bad (i think). going to do a compression test on it to make sure that it is bad. My problem that i am running into is that i am one of the lucky ones to have an automatic transmission. I read on here that i can only use an automatic motor??? if that information is wrong can someone please tell me. i can't do a 5spd swap because there are no wrecked 3rd gens out where i live. plus money is an issue too. i have just enough to get a JDM motor so yeah. I want to get this car on the road before the summer hits. Again thanks for your time.

This is true, you will need a motor with the automatic rear plate. The manual cars can use either engine. It really just comes down to being able to mount the starter.

BTW 93 did not come in white, so the car has either been repainted or it is a 94+

You may want to consider rebuilding the engine that you have, j-spec engines are a serious gamble, chances are you will have to rebuilt it anyway.

 

yeah, the car stock was silver. but it looks way better as pearl white. Thanks for the help. Blah. now i need to work the overtime to get my motor rebuilt.
