Im almost positive I offer the best prices on a fresh rebuilt engine. There are cheaper choices like a used engine or a j-spec, but mine comes with a warranty and I stand behind my work.
Prices range between $2650-2850.00 shipped for a used housing rebuild and around $3400.00 shipped for a new housing rebuild. 1yr/12k mile warranty. These prices include a street port and if you need pics just search my username or website.

I have never seen anything negative regarding djseven, so if you're just looking for a standard (working) engine then you probably will not go wrong by speaking with David.
Depending on what level of engine you are looking for there are MANY choices in America.
I am currently running an engine with (about) 5-6 years on it. My engine was built by RP Performance/PFS (in Northern Virginia) back in '03-04 (I'll have to check my receipts for the exact dates) and is still holding 9.0-9.5kg/cm2 compression (which is almost unheard of!!!) with stock ports.
Most established companies in the U.S. will do a good job with your rebuild (if you keep your eyes open you can occasionally find healthy engines in the F/S section from people who are "going to the dark side").
I've had nothing but pleasant experiences with Rotary Performance in Texas, Banzai Racing in Indiana and Pineapple Racing in Oregon. Ray Crowe from Malloy Mazda (in MD) will/should also be able to find you a (very) good stock reman engine.
You may also wish to look into Ihor at IRP (or IPR, I'm a little intoxicated amt
sadface) as he knows what he's doing and is relatively close to you.
As for myself, personally.... If I were to have my engine rebuild (and ported) I would absorb the cost of having it crated/shipped and send it to Pineapple. But I am also a STRONG fan of doing things right, the first time, regardless of cost (which is why I'm running 400rwhp reliably from sequential twins, all day, every day!!)
As that guy from Reading Rainbow used to say when I was a kid... "But don't take my word for it..." Listen to the other guys on the forum, we're not likely to steer you wrong on purpose.

There is also Kevin at Rotary Resurrection - though there may be some Soviet-era-like prohibition against mentioning him on this board.
(He used to post here a lot and really knew his stuff - but I guess he didn't pay his dues or something.)

I've heard nothing but good things about DJseven and Kevin Landers. Kevin Landers has started selling short blocks so look up Rotary Resurrection on Ebay and you'll find him. He also has a warranty.

IRP is fairly close to you as well. They do awesome work. Definitely one of the best on the east coast. They build race or DD engines. People send their cars from all over to them.
Give Ray a call at Malloy's Mazda, he has 3 crate motors left straight from Japan with 0 miles on them, these aren't rebuilds they are brand new. $3500 was the price if I remember correctly and there is core exchange required.
Just to clarify I can build an engine as nice as the customer wants. New irons, lapped irons, side clearance rotors, 3mm, doweled, balanced, etc. The truth of the matter is most is not necessary for someone on stock twins or a small single.
Let me 2nd this suggestion. I purchased one of these back in '04 from Ray, had it shipped up to KD Rotary for installation. If you're in Philly you're about 2 hrs from KDR. You won't find a more knowledgable, capable guy than Dave @KDR. He knows these cars inside-out. Highly recommend this path. -Randy

I would imagine that getting a rebuild would actually be more beneficial than purchasing one of those brand new motors from Ray. Granted 0 mile everything would be nice, especially if you only had a stock car or wanted to store one away as a collector piece, by rebuilding you get to port out the engine a little (or a lot depending on what you want to do). I'm pretty sure that the majority of builders mentioned in this thread would also be able to do it just as well, if not better, than when mazda originally did.
^Mines at PFS right now they know there stuff but my car has been there 4 months now and still waiting for it to be done. I even gave them a brand new engine from malloy to start with.
IRP is where i had my first engine done and it was a great build and their customer service was awesome and did not take as long and the only reason it did was because of parts. Also the price was good.

bump for David Jerome's work. For inexpensive keg rebuilds Dave is the place. If you are looking to get more serious I recommend Gorilla Race Engineering, wwwgorillare.com
I bought a roller from DJSeven about a year ago.
Very professional person to work with and even after one year if I need advice he's very professional about it.
I'd definately be a return customer.
David, I'm glad to have bought the car from you.

Look up Turbotommy here on the forum and take a look at the 20B Jim built. Sickness.
I agree, Jim is awesome. Like I mentioned in another thread, if you look at his garage, you can see he gets alot of work and he has alot of loyal customers. If your with Jim your in good hands. Jim would be my #2 behind IRP.
