Need rebuild info

I started my car after a month or two of inactivity and noticed there was some white smoke coming from the passenger side of the engine compartment. I then checked the water level and found black goo on the top of the overflow tank dipstick.

From searching the forums it looks likes its most likely from an o-ring failure... I need a rebuild.

I normally would take it to Ricks in pleasanton, but are there any decent shops around the sacramento area?

Also, what are the major things that should be replaced with the rebuild i.e. flywheel, clutch.

I have a stock 93

Check your oil dipstick. If its clean your probably ok. Residue can form from condinsation on the inside of oil cap. As for the white smoke. It could be a loose water or oil line, failing gasket, or just the fact it sat and is burning off sme residue collected somewhere. Dont jump to engine failure so quickly! One step at a time. G

Rick is a perfectionist and will do a great job. You can read about my engine rebuild experience here: https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...hlight=rebuild

Some of the items in my thread will not apply as you are a stock car but it should be good reading. I do not take short cuts, but this approach is not for everyone = expensive.

You can run the car by Rick's or another GOOD shop (there aren't many!) to verify whether you really need a rebuild or not.

There is no water to be seen on the oil dipstick. Hopefully I do not need a rebuild yet and its just a minor issue.

Thanks for the input.

Edit - my FD was sitting for a couple months over winter. Right when i started it up, the engine light came on and smoke was coming from the passenger side of the engine compartment.
