In need of picture> Heater Core hardline
In need of picture> Heater Core hardline
I know i have it somewhere although i cannot remember what it looks like. I have a number of parts in bins cant distinguish between them. Would anyone have a picture of the hard line or even hose/hard line make up from the lower thermostat housing neck heater hose outlet to the firewall tube connecting to the heater core? I have found many of coolant system write ups on here, but non showing these actual pieces. Thanks for any help.
I just bought one for a buddy, FYI they're pretty cheap new.
Don't have a pic, but it's about 3/4" or so diameter, has about 2 major bends but it's relatively straight, has 2 mounting tabs with holes for 10mm bolts coming off of it, and it's around 2 feet long.
Should be the only thing that's even remotely close in your parts pile, there's no other parts on the car that would look the same.
IIRC, it was around $30 or so new from Ray.

So couldn't find the hard line. Went to Advance Auto got 3/4" ID hose routed it from fire wall to lower coolant neck outlet. Then wrapped host in NASA gold foil around the areas where is passed by the turbos. Not too shabby if i say so myself
Dude, that WILL FAIL. Cheap parts store hose doesn't hold up in general, and REALLY not on the FD.
Either get a good used hardline and new end hoses or get 'em new, which isn't much. That WILL bite you in the *** down the road.

From dry rot or pressure? Is it flowing that much pressure? Can i use it temporarily? And what's the difference really being that both end pieces are rubber from factory? I don't have a problem going back to factory setup but right now i have to use what i can get my hands. Let me know always interested in learning more.
The early radiator hoses Mazda used weren't up to the heat and pressure the FD runs, and they reformulated them at one point (there's a TSB on it). The stock hoses fit excellent and can take the FD's environment.
I have seen parts store hoses fail spectacularly on an FD. They're just not up to snuff.
Can you use it temporarily? Yep. But I would get that fixed pronto, even more so if you're planning on running the Dragon in 2 weeks

The FD doesn't take well to hack fixes, it HAS to be done right if you want it to be problem free.
