Another one bites the dust....

Yep it finally happened to me, I go to reach for the door handle the other day to open it and I heard this god awful "CLLACKK". I looked down and saw bits and pieces of the hinge falling down. So since then I ordered the new aluminum ones and it feels way stronger than the flimsy OEM ones.

Glad you got the part sorted. The aluminum pieces are definitely an upgrade.

You know, with my 93 and my current 94, I have always had dislike for the flimsy, "tinny" feel of the oem doors upon opening and closing. I figured it was the way it was, but the other day I opened the door of a buddy's 93 and the whole door felt MEGA solid and heavier...I can't imagine this is accomplished just with the door handles...would ordering new hinges bring a more solid, sturdy, heavy feel to the doors when opening??

I would have to say negative on that. I wouldn't believe that by changing the door handle that it would make the whole door more solid feeling. Maybe if you want the door to have a less "tinny" sound you could put some dynomat inside the door this would add some substance to the thin sheet metal the doors are probably made from. Just an idea not sure if it would help.

I changed a door handle a few days ago and spent like 3 hours on it, then I realized you have to take that bracket off that connects to the new handle to make it fit under the piece. Such a pain.

Guess I should get this mod done. My door latch gets stuck and I have to yank on the door sometimes. I could see it snapping sooner or later.

That's exactly what happened to mine it started getting harder and harder to open then CRACK. The ones I got are lifetime warranty as well.

LOL. Yeah I realized that's what it might sound like after I had posted it. Hopefully this motor won't blow this soon. I'm sure it probably will eventually but hoping to get at least this summer out of it.

Yeah they have a lifetime warranty, so mine as well spend 210$ and get them shipped to your place, it wasnt a hard install, I just ran into a snag with trying to get the mechanism under the handle but then after I realized you needed to take it off it was to easy. If your having problems with it wiggling you can tighten the bridge extension bolts that secure it in place. I had a buddy come over and started talking to me and i forgot to put those back in and it was wiggly as **** so I just took it off again and put them back on.

That "TINNY" metal sound is the crash/support bar. The sealant used to bond the bar to the door skin has come undone. All you need to do is buy windshield sealant and reseal the crash/support bar to the door skin. That will give you the nice solid sound you are looking for...

I'm hoping everyone knows that for an extra $100.00 you can buy BOTH ENTIRE DOOR ASSEBMLIES!!!! If the original door handles lasted 15-18 years I'm sure a NEW Mazda direct OEM ENTIRE ASSEMBLY will be ok for a another decade.

You also get a scratch free exterior triangle, a new keyhole light and all new working parts .

+1 For this. I'd much rather spend the money on performance mods.
