Need opintions on what to do with my car...

Well, as you may or may not know, my engine bay had an electrical fire about 3 months ago, damnit. Insurance kinda jaked me, but then again htye had a point. They ended up paying my a little over $3,000 which paid for all the work except replacing my front bumper and getting a paint job. They paid for a paint job (front bumper re-paint only, not whoel car) and a front bumper, but not the wiring harness and labor on it, which actually took most of the money.

Anyway, so now my car is fixed except that the front bumper is my old one that has cracks in it and is partially warped, plus my two headlight covers are white cause they unpainted. My car looks like *** I bring disgrace to the RX-7 community, my local RX-7 buddies make fun of me and don't like to be seen with my car in public j/k

Anyway, I am trying my best to get my hands on the new Knightsport front bumper and rear spoiler:

Here is my delima.

Should I keep the car with the stock look? I mean I really like the stock look, and as the RX-7 becomes more of a classic maybe stock is better, I dunno. The Knightsport kit looks awsome I think though. The rear wing isn't EXACTLY what I want but its the closest that I can find. I have seen a few pics of rear spoilers that I like better, but no one knows what they are, they are Japanese discontinued products, etc, etc...

Do you like the Knightsport wing? Sometimes I think yes, sometimes I think maybe its too much rice. Sometimes I think the stock spoiler is crap, other times I like it. If I get the Knightsport front end I will have no stock front end, so in terms of long term value that may hurt the car not to have a stock part on hand eh?

Now on to price. I'm thinking that if I can ge this Knightsport crap, which I'm still not sure I can, it may be as high as about $2,000 just for the front and rear spoiler and lights, but I can get a used front end in perfect shape for like $250 or $300, hmm...

I guess I gotta get the whole car painted no matter what to make it look right. I had the front end re-painted by itself cause of road chips once and it sucked ***. It was okay, but not perfect, as you can see in my sig. So I'm going to do a repaint and want the same color but maybe like 10% more pearl.

So, I'm looking at $3,000 - $3,500 for paint probably, plus about $2,000 for body parts, OUCH! I CAN afford it, but its a lot, thats not money I just have lying around.

Then I figure though if I'm gonna spend $3,500 on paint WTF not just go all out and get a nice kit eh? I dunno, what do you think?

I think my car would look clean and sweet as hell with just a front end a wing and the rest all clean and stock with a deep clear coat, all shiney and **** eh? Then I gotta get some black rims with polished lip and I'll be tight on looks, but then I still got mechanical upgrades and ****, damn it just never ends. Hell I could just not do anything to it, and go on a nice vacatio to Spain or Amsterdam, ****, what to do? In other words I gotta sacrafice to get it fixed up, thoguhts?

make it nice

I would go for the knightsport kit, i have a knightsport front on my FD and everyone loves it. I'm saving up to find a Mazdaspeed GT-C wing. My advice would be to put on the aftermarket but keep it yellow, that looks awsome!

I'd go for the Mazdaspeed GT-C nose and hood...

And the MAzdaspeed rear wing

Or maybe the FEED if you want something a little stealthier....

These are my favorite pieces by far!

Good luck... I'm sure with God's help it'll look great

(That's for you YZF... )

get a FEED rear spoiler.

I can attest to how great it looks on a CYM.

Thanks, but trust me, I'm well aware of all the options. The Knightsport kit is what I have decided on, its just I don't know if I should go with it, or stay stock. I'm definately not going with any other kits.

The Pettit GTC replica is not too bad, I would consider it, but I friend in my town just got it Plus its not really what I want, I'd rather stay stock then get it I think.

Its just an issue of:

#1 Money, it is really worth it?
#2 Should I keep it classic or go for an aftermarket look, especially since I am considering this car to be a long term aquisition. 10 years from now in a body kit just going to be a worn out fad while the stock look is still a timeless classic?

BTW, SaltyDog12, do you have the Knightsport front end pictured above? If so, where did you get it, I'm still looking. I've seen is at rxecret7.com, but nowhere else. I'm trying ot get Jason to get it and hopefully I can get it from him a little cheaper.

Keep the classic look.

But get a FEED spoiler and 99 front end (real-one with license plate and everything but put a black plate that says RX-7 in white or something)

and get some 18" wheels and you're set

Knightsport still not release the front bumper on the photo yet. I think you better go with something else.

That really is quite a dilemma, one that I have fought with many times in my head.

I also agree about your saying how in 3 years or more an aftermarket kit may look like crap, be outdated, and need to be upgraded again to fit in with the times. While the stock look will remain a classic whether you are an owner or an outside person, the stock look will always come to mind when you think of a 7. That is why I think in the end I will keep the stock look, but the 99 stock look. I even think I will buy the front with the license plate holder (RX-7 tag since I need no tag up front) just to keep it stock the hole way around. And like TTT said, it should be another stock option you should consider.
