Thumbs up Rear wing choices

Well, I hate to make noise about something before I actually get it because for some reason I jinx it.. happens all the time. So I'll knock on wood before this one. This coming Sunday I am picking up my new baby, a silver 1993 touring 5-speed.. I got rid of my stage7 MKIII supra because I wanted something newer. I didn't think I would find an RX-7 worth buying so quickly, but I guess luck was on my side. Anyway, the car has no rear wing on it so I am trying to decide IF I am going to put one on it, and if so which one. I don't mind the looks of the car without one, but the only one I have come across so far that appeals to me is either a stock wing.. or the 99 FD/mazdaspeed Type II style wing. But that thing is like $1300! I checked out www.rxecret7.com and didn't see much I liked.. maybe I am getting old but I would love something tasteful and subtle. Any other sites I can check out for examples? TIA.. I look forward to many happy years with my FD.. and many hours in the garage.

Matt

Here is a thread with some different wings posted:

Just keep in mind, just about all parts for the RX-7 are expensive. You might be able to find some replica parts to help save costs (at the risk of having JoeD scorn you for getting a "Knock off" ).

However, before purchasing a wing, I would make sure you do all the reliability upgrades (if they already haven't been done) first:

Good luck!

Thanks for the info, I have been searching through all the archives on the forums for a couple weeks just trying to get up to speed on the car without having to post questions that have been asked 10 times before. Like.. is the FD reliable? I had a first gen about 8 years ago and I loved that thing..

First thing after this weekend I am ordering up a Pettit AST, a Koyo aluminum radiator, and doing the fan mod. Next is a set of Defi gauges before any power mods.

If you like that MazdaSpeed Type II wing, check out Racing Beat's Type II wing:

Sounds like someone who has actually done some research on this car and knows the right route to go as far as upgrades..

let me save you some trouble and let you in on my racing beat style wing. which btw is not really made by racing beat, they get it from wings west.
It is nice, except for the center that sits on the hatch(it looks like a ducks tail). Some may like it, I have it but dont like it. Its a good thing cause its quite cheap.
My only advise is to take it to a body shop and have them modify(cut that part out) and make it look like the 99 spoiler.

Well, I think the RB Type II is a bit much for me looks wise.. now the RB Type I is very nice. I think it follows the contours on the rear of the car a little better anyway.. just my opinion though. And at $280 it won't break my bank account either. Just leaves me more money to pick up those Volk wheels I want.
