She's torn apart... need some suggestions.

Well... after putting her up in the air and looking through the tranny service hole. I can see the fork moving w/ the clutch being pushed in. I blead the system and their we're no bubbles. The release cylinder seems to be working fine. I'm leading now twoards the throwout bearing or the clutch.

Since the throwout bearing is like $75 for our cars... I fig I'll just do the whole clutch since I'll have the tranny off. I went ahead and striped my car... just need to get the engine on the lift and get a tranny jack under there and she'll come right off.

I was thinking of possibly doing a lightweight flywheel at the same time. What clutch/flywheel combo would be the best for a street driven (rarely track (cause I don't really fit in w/ a helmet)) FD. I will be keeping the stock twins but will have them moded by a local shop here. Down the road I will be pushing more power but nowhere near 450 (my guess) I don't ever plan on draging the car... just don't care to do that.

I'm also going to lift up my engine and do the oilpan gasket (sealant) and see if I have any other leaks.

Since I'll have the tranny out I wanted to fix the 5th gear syncro problem. Is there any site out there or does anyone know where I can get the part numbers of the parts I need to order to fix the 5th gear syncro problem? Is it somthing I should try and tackle myself or should I just take it to the dealer and have them do it?

Thanks in advance (sorry for so many questions in 1 thread ),
Chris

I would get the ACT street/strip clutch with a steel flywheel for a mostly street setup. I have the ACT clutch now and it feels awesome. I'm still running the stock flywheel, but I plan on upgrading later.

yeah I would go with a ACT too.. In fact I am going to. Jason has RPS clutches at a little below ACT prices I think, but I'd rather go with something like ACT that's proven already.

Christ Chris!!! You're doing a lot of **** to that puppy. Trying to get rid of all the leaks? BTW, found one of my boost problem culprits. Also took my UIM, y-pipe, and TB in to get polished.

NICE! I can't wait to see it!

I'm not sure if you heard bro... but she's not drivable! I can't put her into gear... so thats kinda what started this. I'm also having a slight coolant smell at startup so I might have to replace the motor soon to Thats ok tho... I get to do a streetport then!
Ya.... You should see the underside of this baby... she's a MESS! After we get the motor fixed up we're going to degrese her. She deserves it!

thanks for the suggestions guys! Still need those part #'s tho

Hard to say.... depends on when I get this all done. I figure I'm going to put in a new clutch. I might just say screw it.... take my taxes to H&R (I know I know... I should have had them done already ) get the money. Grab a lightened flywheel, clutch, fix my 5th gear syncro.... oilpan gasket. Buy myself a aircompressor . Rob and I are working on it.... but it's down to money and time at this point.

Theres alot I can do w/ the tranny out and engine lifted so I figure I'll just take my time and do it all.... right

When she comes back tho.... oooooooooooo how I'll be happy lol.... I'll just have to ride around in yours for the time being wanna come pick me up?

Well whenever I get my solenoid installed that I just ordered today (hopefully by the weekend) and get my polished parts back mine will be back on the street. I was going to ask you if you needed any help on yours. I am not for sure how much of a mechanic I would be, but I am not an idiot, plus it would be a good learning experience, right? Let me know.
