Need Opinion 93 Fd F/s

Bout to close on a deal today for a 93 FD silver with red interior. The car has only 13,000 original miles. The car fax came up clean. Also it's located at a mazda dealership(some ideot traded it in for an rx-8). Anyways they want $25,000 and the manager knows the history of the car and won't budge. The car is in great condition. So what do you guys think. Is it worth it

If the seller is motivated, a 13k car can bring 25000. (I assume it's a manual transmission, an auto is worth much less IMO). I don't think it will jump off the lot if you put off buying it.

It is possible (not common, but possible) to get a similar car with under 30k for under 20000. But it's hit or miss.

Make sure they do a compression test, a dealership will have no problem with this. Depending on how often the car was driven (extended periods of sitting are not good), it could have a few issues. The FAQ sticky thread contains links to some very good buyers guide info.

Nice av.

I think the price is too high. It may not have sold for much more than that when it was new, and that was almost 13 years ago. 20-22K would be about right.

To put in perspective I bought a 94R2 about a year ago for 19500. 24K miles. Never in rain, always garage kept under cover, owned by a couple in their late 40's. Also came with the original tires on the original rims, and 6 - 5 star American Racing rims with brand new rubber on them (235 for the front, a set of 255's, and 275's for the rear).
My take would be that the red interior would hurt the price a little. I woudl agree with dgeesman that someone will buy that car at that price depending on motivation of seller. It might not be quite "worth" 25000 - maybe a little less but my opinion woudl be that it is a really low mileage FD and may not be worth losing over one or two thousand dollars if that is the car you want.

Thanks a lot for all your opinions. The car is for my dad. He currently has a vette ewwww. I have a 95 FD and he likes it more than his 98 vette. The vette keeps on depreciating in value and we all know that the FD have not done that. It's his descision but it looks like he's gonna take the deal.

Some dealers with slow sales had to drop prices quite a bit

i wouldnt pay no more than 15k for a fd. and for 15 it either has to be single, has mods, or rebuilt/new engine

depends on your reason for buying...if you are a collector, then i say buy it...if it's just to drive and mod, i'd save some money for something with a few more miles, then you'll have some extra to dump into it.

Most people's FD's have depreciated significantly. Only extremely low mileage FD's retain a decent value. Once you start rackin up some miles the depreciation is gonna be drastic. Just look at the for sale section and check out the going rate for higher mileage cars.

If you are concerned about depreciation, I would not buy this car. It is very hard to sell an FD for high teens or above so, while a dealer may be able to get $25k for this car (though I'm not convinced of that), as a private individual you may have a hard time getting over $20k.

There are very nice low mileage FDs to be had for $16-$18k - the only reason to spend more is if the very low miles are important to you. However, they may not be important to anybody else, so you may be paying $5-$7k for the privilege of those low miles. You could be able to find a car with 30k or so miles for $18k and boy a hell of a lot of toys with the $7k that you saved.

Well we decided to buy it on terms that the miles werent rolled back. Im bringing it up to pettit with in the next couple of days. Gonna put the base performance kit just like my 95'. Its gonna be more of a collectible and kept at low milage. My FD will be the one driven more often. Thanks for everyones opinion.
