Need New Battery

Hey Hello to everyone!

I'm new to the forum and a new owner of a 94 RX7. I am in the process off learning the car and with one of my first days driving it around found that my battery is pretty much shot.

My question: What is the best battery to get that is safe to have behind the driver’s seat? The relocation has been done but the battery that is in there now is a cheapo Wal-Mart special.

Thanks
Derek

You are going to want to get a dry cell battery. I currently have a red top optima and have been pretty happy with it. Its pretty large/heavy but it cranks like there is no tomorrow.

Thanks for the replies. I called Autozone but they didn’t have a part number for the optima battery for a 94 RX7.

c00lduke you wouldn’t happen to know the part number for the battery your using?

Thanks
Derek

just take the measurements from the old battery and give it to them. there really is no true spec for a battery that has been relocated since it is not vehicle specific anymore, you put in there what fits.

also i would suggest getting a racing battery box, you really don't want that sucker exploding all over the cabin, it is rare but not something to take lightly and i have had a red top explode before on my truck, luckily the battery was still under the hood but the paint didn't like the experience much...

I belive I have a yellow top battery 51R. A friend of mine installed his behind the drivers seat "rear Bin". I installed mine under the hood and gained extra room for a larger IC

Costco also has a 51R. It's hard to beat it for the money. Good cranking amps, it's light and small, and you can buy two or three of them for the price of an Optima.

I would never recommend a PC680 to a vehicle that has any aftermarket stereo amplification. They are just not a very robust battery.
