Thumbs up Need Help With Stock Duct And Smic

hey guys I wanted to know something, is the stock duct really needed when using a aftermarket SMIC? I have a ARC race spec IC and its about 1 1/2 inch taller and 1 1/2 wider but is still SMIC. I have seen the Blitz and Greddy SMIC set up, and they come with a top cover plate . so my ? is do i need the full duct or can i just use that top cover plate like the vendors sale? and before i forget, with the V-mount do you use the stock duct work and if not how would i channel that air? thanks for your help guys.

You are looking at running 15 degree C and higher if you don't use a duct. Even if the stock duct only covers 3/4 of your current IC use it until you can find or make a custom duct.

Yep, always use a duct. The IC will just heatsoak without it.

You have a PFC, take out the duct and look at your intake temps under different conditions.

Bottom line is yes the duct is needed.
