Question need help please?

I just got done installing new cooling fans, defi water temp gauge, and defi boost gauge. Here is the problem. I tapped the water temp sensor into the thermostat housing using the post by clayne (nice write up!) and got it wired up. when I started the car and warmed up to temp I was getting no readings. I checked the sensor was connected correctly and it was. I then removed the sensor and put it in 200 degree water and still nothing. so is the gauge temp sensor bad or is it the gauge itself? next, I got the boost gauge hooked up and I am wondering what vacuum pressure should I expect at idle. I figured it would be a little below 0. mine is sitting at -15. so is there a leak somewhere or is the gauge fck-d? last I am not sure why my old fans went, but when I removed them the drivers side fan shroud was angled and stuck. hmm? anyway I got a new set of fans from the forum (good lookin" to OneBadFox) and I know they work I powered them up to see. now, I got them in the car and when it was started and warmed up, no fans. not with the a/c or nothing. it goes into a heavier load mode but no fans. why? can the relays be bad? what is the best way to solve this and be safe. fan switch? this is all while the cooling system is stabilized and stock water temp gauge is right below half, no buzzer. anyway I hope someone can help.by the way I have not took the car out for a spin yet to see how it reacts.

thanx

drive your car around and see if your temp guage moves. as far as boost, you should be fine.

4 real? I will try and drive it and see what is up. is that normal to be showing such a negative boost pressure. I hope so. this stuff is all brand new.

-15 vacuum is totally normal. Stock, health motors sometimes pull as much as 18. The larger the ports, usually the less it pulls. Likewise, if you have fewer accesories on the motor, it'll pull a little less. My streetport w/ all accessories and a hiflo cat pulled about -16. Now with an open exhaust, no airpump, no power steering, it's more like -14.

no sh*t? cool. I am pretty sure the temp sensor is not working though. I let the car warm up good no reading. for the fans I got a toggle switch and hooked to the blue wire on the fans and I can turn them on high speed now. I still need to find out why they are not coming on?

nope dumb *** me. I didn't have the constant power hooked up right. I tapped into a wire that I thought had power. not the case. changed it and walla, I got self check mode and it started reading temp. I did tap and drill the thermostat housing and I start seeing readings as soon as the stock temp gauge starts to rise to the lower white line, around 130 on my Defi. so those of you that thought you would'nt see temp readings until the thermostat opened that is not the case with mine. I am very pleased with the new setup and my temps are stable and to spec. thank god!!!

On the fans, the stock fans won't kick on unless it's hot enough to do so. If it's cool out (which is very likely in Colorado right now) they may not run at all if they don't need to.

sonix7: the little "jiggle pin" at the top of the thermostat allows some flow, even when the thermostat is "closed." This is probably enough for your temp sensor to start to move up, even before you hit 180 and the thermostat really opens up.

yep. thats what I was thinking aboutthe early temp reading. I like it that way. I thought I wouldn't see temp until the thermostat opened. this way I can watch it come up to temp.

dcfc3s- good point. but wont turn on with ac on either when before I switched the fans it would come on. I am going to replace the relays and see what is up.
