Unhappy Need help!!! My FD's messed up???

Last night when I was racing with my friend something weird happend. I was at WOT and making about 8 or 9 lbs of boost in third gear right when the second turbo is about to kick in at 4.5k something sounded like it poped and it felt alot less power. After that the car won't idle right it will just die 5 to 10 seconds after I start it I have to rev it just so it won't die even when I do that the engine shakes violently. One of my friend said it might be ignition but not sure. Please help my car is parked at a Subway now I am afraid trying to drive it and break something else.

HAHAHHAHAAAAA

just kidding it's not funny

Blown motor.

Raise the idle so it doesn't constantly want to stall and drive it home or to a shop. Hope it's something minor but it doesn't sound like it.

I feel your pain not twice but thrice

That would be a popped motor, to be more specific you blew one rotor. If you blew the second one it would not run.

Do a compression test. You can drive on one rotor to get it home or to a shop but you will have no power and it will need to be run at a higher rpm to keep speed.

Good Luck

Just like BoostCrzy said i would check the intercooler cuplings and vacuum hoses (especially going to the map sensor on the firewall) first before deeming the motor blown. Good Luck

THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED TO ME!!!

Yeah you should REALLY just adjust the idle long enough to make somewhere to get a compression test! But get ready, you'll be stalling at EVERY light and you'll probably have some nice black smoke coming from the exhaust! (gas related) But I know how you feel, I had to drive my FD for 3 hours when it was like that, so I could get it to a particular place that f*cked my car up and made the seal blow!!! But that's a LONGGGG story!!Try to make it to a near by shop or something close by, because if you did blow the motor, the longer- harder you try to drive the car, the more damage it can cause! I had to learn that the hard way, so in the end, I had to replace my motor and the cracked turbo housing! That sucked!

Anyway, I know EXACTLY how you feel, but don't worry, everything might seem terrible now, but it will get better before you know it!

OK, first off...are you still running the stock IC or do you have an aftermarket one?

OK, second off...forget what I just asked...NO MATTER what kind of intercooler you are running, those symptoms would have nothing to do it!!! I'm not trying to **** anyone off, but I seriously doubt that your intercooler being damaged etc...would EVER cause that kind of symptoms!!!!! I'm sure that Snook would also agree with me on this one, because we both have been through this BS before...damn rotarys!!

But keep us informed as to what happens and good luck!

What are your mods?

Like posted before, check map sensor, spark plug wire, etc...

BTW, have you ever replaced the fuel filter before?

Hey KungFu! I was in Taiwan last summer. It's a nice place...

I had the exact same thing (black smoke, bad idle) happen to me when I first got the car (about 5 years ago). I know it was mentioned above, but in my case the hose just popped off the MAP Sensor. No big deal.

I hope this is your problem.

Mine did the same thing. I suspected engine popped, and let the car sit while I collected my money in preparation for a new motor.

When I finally took it to Mazda for an examination it, it turned out to be a bad hose/valve. I am sorry I cannot remember what valve it was, but it cost me $300 to have fixed. That price included a change of plugs.

Spend a few bucks to get it checked out, you may be lucky.

I have stock ic the only mod I have is downpipe and highflow main cat the car is sitting in my garage now and I've take almost every I can apart trying to look for a popped of hose of any sort. I did change my fuel filter and I look at the spark plug wire and they were nasty looking like they've melted a bit or something I don't think the previous owner changed it at all. I really don't think it is a popped motor (cross my fingers and toes) because it had 16 vacuum and the boost pattern is good. I really don't know what's wrong I am just gonna keep digging in the engine bay looking for anything bad and fix it or replace it.

I would definately check your IC connections. Granted, superchargers are different than turbos, but when run with an aftercooler, they have the same set-up. When the intake pipe from our T-trim blew off of the aftercooler, the same scenario occured. The motor more or less took a crap on itself. Once the pipe was hooked back up and reclamped, it was fixed. A vaccum line or an IC pipe with a crack/disconnected CAN cause your motor to do some VERY weird things.

Chances are you did blow your motor...however, before you go get a rebuild, check all of your connections, find out what your vacuum looks like, and have a compression test done.

Check your MAP sensor - I had the exact same thing happen to me and after reconnecting the blown hose, the car ran fine. You might have to change plugs though since shutting the car down and trying to restart in that state tends to flood the engine.

Good luck.
