need help installing hood pins

So i have a set of hood pins i want to install. I want to do it between the headlights not behind them. I need help figuring out where to mount the pins. The best spot looks to be where those rubber bump stops are. So my question is, do i need those rubber bump spots, thus a new mounting location or will it be fine if i remove those rubber bump stops and put the hood pins there.

i would keep the bumpers as they keep your hood sitting right

i installed the pins behind the headlights, drilled the rubber bump stops and then slid them onto the pins. works perfectly!

Any pics? How did you mark the hood when you drilled it? Bottom through and out the top?

Install pins where you want them, wipe some semen on tip of shaft, lower hood on top of shaft, now you've marked where to drill holle. Put some tape on the outside of the hood to keep the paint from chipping too bad.

i used moroso low profile pins which have a sharp tip, lowered the hood on top of them and applied slight pressure just enough so that the tip indented the underside of the hood.

drilled but only the fg part and not all the way through, lowered again and did the same and then drilled the cf, it worked 'ok'. I had to enlarge the underside holes so that the pins would pass all the way through the cf withouth binding.

in the end it all worked out perfect. I'll post pics later in the week since I'm keeping my car in storage.

I tried that before but the semen kept getting licked off the shaft before I could lower the hood! Thats why I was asking for help!

That's a common location for installing hood pins.

I just did pins on my hood, used the bump rubber locations just aft of the headlights. Drilled out the rubbers and slid them over the pin.

Old thread, but I'm curious how you all are removing the rubber bump stops to drill them out. Whether behind the headlight or the inside, it's difficult to get a hold of the metal or plastic clips on the bottom of the bump stops... Any advice?
