FL Need help getting water pump off

Im in the process of pulling everything out and I have been hung up on this for a little while and since i cant figure it out, im here to ask you guys. I am trying to get the accessories off of the motor to make it easier once i pull it out. What sort of witchcraft holds this on? there seems to be 6 or 7 bolts and I have removed all of them except 2 which do not look like they hold anything on. In the picture i have circled where the 2 bolts I speak of are still attached. Also, once I get this removed, another concern of mine is what to do about the a/c lines. They still have some gas(r134a i believe) in the lines. Should i get an a/c charge kit to de-pressure the system or what? Any help would be much appreciated!

There's the FSM online you can take look at, it's in the 3rd gen section then tech link. You have tp remove the part that has the radiator filler neck, there's two more bolts holding that on, that's where the thermostat is. Then you will have clearance to pull the pulley off, then you should see the bolts to take the pump off. Alot of times the pump is stuck to the studs on the right side, and usually breaks the stud off.

I searched the 3rd gen motor pulling guide, the pictures were shitty thumbnails and make it look like he pulled the whole long block turbos and all. I have taken this car apart in stages and without reguard of putting these parts back in, other than the A/C.Now look where the Red circles are. removing the filler neck wont help with this. I was asking about the proper way to depressurize my A/C since this was a motor pulling question that the guide didn't answer either.

You need to bring it to a shop that has a recovery unit to take the ac lines off. Other that that I would just disconnect the compressor and prop it up. To get the water pump off you need to take off the pulley, then you'll be able to get to those two "mystery" bolts. I didn't read the whole post you made just the title so hopefully I answered your questions...

iirc you do have to take those bolts off just be carefull not to break your omp lines yours look very old making them fragile

ahhh^^^he beat me in posting up but yeah what he said you might be able to use a open end wrench to get up there.

The two bottom bolts need to come out, remove the pulley so you can get to them.

But if your pulling the motor, it's way easier the pull that stuff from the block when the motor is out on a stand.

There is no reason to remove the A/C and P/S lines, just unbolt the pumps from the block and support them from the fender with some wire.

Why are you trying to take the filler neck off?

Remove the pulley, and I believe there is a bolt or two behind it and it should slide right out.

thanks for the help guys. open end wrench should do the trick. As for the A/C, as far as for pulling the motor, i will just suspend the pump till i get the motor out. I am doing an ls1 conversion and was wondering if anyone was using an a/c still.

Glad we could help! I was just about to post a picture of a factory water pump so you could see all the bolt holes and match it to what you need to take out/off. LMK if there's anything else you need...
