Need help to find out screw size for side mirror

My passenger side mirror is missing 2 screws to hold it down. I wanted to take driver side one off to match it at hardware store but I ended up stripping screw head.
Does anyone know what size those bolts are ?

looking at the FSM but doesnt not show what sizes they are.

Not sure of the size, but you can pull one off the other side and take it.
Some members have had success replacing the screws with bolt heads to
solve the stripped head issue.

I THINK those screws are tapered on the end, and for a reason. If so, get new ones from Mazda, can't be too pricey.

Dale is right, see pix -- bottoms are definitely tapered, though I can't tell why.

The screws are most likely tapered just to help prevent cross-threading and speed up alignment when being assembled on the assembly line. I would not worry if the replacement screws do not have that taper, just be careful when starting the threads.

You'll probably need to use a damaged screw extractor or an impact screwdriver.

I thought the taper was to press into the fitting on the other side to fit tighter or something. If they wanted to do the "speed assembly" they would have just done like a lot of the bolts on the car with short non-threaded sections at the tip of the fastener.

Considering it would have been MUCH cheaper to use regular screws I'm sure there's a reason Mazda used those.

BTW, part number seems to be 9YA52-0601A and looks to be around $5 or so.
