ya I am having trouble too. I've tired searching for a DIY with no avail. I've gotten off the center plastic piece, but the radio trim and gauge surround/hood are still on and I can't figure it out.

I'm taking them off to repaint them fyi.

Download the FSM (Factory Service Manual) from the stickies in the forum. It has the step by step on how to do it.

It has been a while but I believe you remove the 2 screws on the bottom of each side and then pull. I hate doing it because you have to pull pretty hard and when it comes loose you may hit something and scratch the face. As far as the center radio panel, there is a screwed down tab underneath the dome face that need to be undone.

Downloading the FSM will help you with this and many more projects to come.

there was a thread i started but have no time to go through every single one now and i done remember where it was, there were pics of how to do it so if you have time just go through my posts

as far as i remember there is nothing difficult, dont even need to have an FSM just look where the screws are, i think there was two that held it and the whole top is just clipped in, make sure you have disconnected all the cables from the back and just pull it out.

Yes, the shop manual has it all. Get one and read it thru. If you are going to do it yourself - the manual should be by your side - Always

Note- Cracking/breaking these plastic pieces could land you in a purchase of new OEM plastics that will quickly deplete your bank deposits !!

I had mine out a couple of weeks ago, I followed a post I found by searching here. Things I remember:

- remove several screws, not all in obvious places
- remove plastic halves from steering column
- remove two bolts and drop steering column
- pull round hood TOWARDS you, not up. you have to pull pretty hard and it is easy to f*** things up when you do this.
