i have a quick question...you may know you may not. i have a 93' Mazda Rx-7 and its been sitting since about 1999 (estimated) and just yesterday i tried to start it and it wouldn't kick over.....checked the fuel pump and it didn't work, then after i got that working it started up and ran for about a min. then it started to miss, then it shut off. i cant figure it out but every time i start it it dies about 3 sec. later. (and misses)

 

1. Did you drain the fuel tank and put in fresh gas?
2. Do you have new spark plugs installed?
3. What's the fuel pressure when it starts?

I would also buy some fuel system cleaner and run that on the first few gas tanks once it's running.

 

yes, drained the tank, fresh fuel. but didnt get new plugs.
and i have yet to check the fuel pressure

 

+1 check fuel pressure and change plugs

check compression since the cars been sitting for nearly a decade

 

check to see if the MAP sensor popped off

 

thanks for your help....i got it running again, i think it was the fuel filter. i havent ran it real long only a few min. i plan on doning that but i need to put the cat back on cause i though that it ma of been that (way off). anyways thanks for all your help, ut now i have a new problemb........
