Exclamation Need help on aluminum flywheel installation quick!!

I am putting the aluminum flywheel in, and run into a quick question:

From what I see in the workshop manual, the stock flywheel for MT does not have a counter weight, only the AT do. Is this true?

If it is, is there anything I need to be aware of when putting it in?

Thanks in advance.

Yes. You mount the counterweight then bolt the flywheel to the counterweight. Which flywheel are you using BTW?

Thanks

Any fitment problems or it pretty much fit in pretty nice?
I haven't seen the OEM flywheel, so I am not sure what to expect at the moment.

I got the ACT/flywheel combo from RX7store.

Usually the flywheel on a MT comes with a counterweight. I have a Racing Beat Aluminum Flywheel http://www.racingbeat.com/resultset....rtNumber=11449 which comes with it's own counterweight. Correct me if I'm wrong but I wouldn't use the stock counterweight with a lightened flywheel since it would not be weighted correctly.

Use the counterweith that came with the will. Mount it with the large nut and then bolt the flywheel to the counterweight. Then put in the clutch and align it with the POS alignment too.

So from what you are saying, the large nut no longer bolts on to the flywheel directly, instead it bolts on to the counterweight, where the flywheel is bolted on to.

If that's the case, do I need to get extra nuts and bolts to bolt the flywheel to the counterweight?

Another question that I have, how do you accurately torque the big nut in. Are there torque wrenches that support up to 360lbs?!

You should have recieved the hardware to mount the flywheel to the counterweight. I have seen two versions of a lightweight flywheel some attach with bolts only and I think this is the way all of the FDs are and some use a nut and bolt which is a real PITA. I just used the impact wrench to put the nut back on. Be sure to use some Loctite.

How to get the old flywheel off !

Be worned it was a bitch !

You need a very large bearing puller and just when you think the flywheel will break , tap it with a hammer and make it ring like a bell and it will come off !

Those flywheels look so damn cool. It's too bad you can't see them after they are installed.
