Need getting alarm to work with turbo timer
Need getting alarm to work with turbo timer
Hey guys, I've search the topic and checked out countless sites on the topic but didn't find the answer I need. Here's the scoop....
I had a clifford installed in my 94 Touring (by a friend) but it's conflicting with the HKS turbo timer I have in the car. We've tried multiple combinations with one relay, two relay, and even tried 3 relays. I know that installing a remote starter would solve this problem but I don't want to go that route. So what I'd like to know is if any of you have DETAILED steps on how to wire up the timer, alarm, and relays so that I could arm the alarm while the timer is running. I'd appreciate any feedback. Thanks in advance.

There is detailed information on Rob Robinettes' or Steve Scudaries' ( sp ? ) sites on how to make a turbo timer work in conjunction with the facory alarm. Maybe that would be a good place to start. Tom
Don't Bother - fd turbos are water cooled and don't need a lot of cool down time - the two min cruising slowly through a parking lot to find a good parking spot is enough. If you have been driving hard enough for the turbos to need more than 2 min. cool down then the rest of the car needs a "cool down lap" also, circle the parking lot once or twice slowly. contrary to popular belief an fd sitting still at idle gets HOTER not Cooler - ever notice thet the fans turn on after 3 min of siting at idle? and then go to HIGH after 5-10 min at idle? that is because the water temp is going UP not DOWN! Do the FAN mod so the fans run for 5 min after shutdown w/o the engine running.
i installled a viper 800esp with a greddy turbo timer in my 93, u do not use the ignition trigger usually a yellow wire from the alarm brain. this way u can arm the alarm when the car is running, the downside is if some thief gets past your other imput trigger( door pin switch) they can pop your ignition without the alarm siren going off. the starter kill will stil work

Thanks for the advice guys. Spyfish: I found the write-up, thanks for the info. I'm gonna give the relay another try, and if that still doesn't work then I'll just dump the timer idea completely and save myself some money. Also, I'll definitely be looking into doing the fan mod in the near future. Again, I appreciate all the replies. Cheers.
