the crate charge is quite a bit, but a safe estimate is around $600-$700 without the tranny of course, this is for 2-4 day air.

The boat is pretty expensive too and takes about 20-45 days depending on what coast your on.

You can do DHL, BAX Global is another. Going to be pretty expensive either way. Maybe Pony Express it?

Try "Nippon Express USA". I work there as Air Cargo Export personal. Maybe I can find out the ocean freight charge for the motor.

By air, it will cost ALOT so i do not recommend it.

Note that you have to pay the duty+tax on top of the ocean freight charge.

you can also try "Excel" they are freight fwder also. But hey, the company i work at is rated number 1 customer serice and is the world largest freight fwder!

Why don't you talk to a couple people on this board. I know they have connections on things like that...though I can't remember who they are...sorry. Another place is talk to motorex. I personally hate the company, but I know they import.

All the freight fwder does packing, and "crate" the shipment if nessasary. But that will cost you a packing fee depending on the company. If you do not pack the motor well enough, the fee will apply regardless.

If for the air export, we will charge the following.

-Freight charge
-Terminal fee
-Handling fee
-Packig fee
-fuel & security
-Duty and tax

Here is the number. Ask for ocean department if you prefer. It will take aprox. 1-2weeks.
You would have to indicate the payment "collect or prepaid" and may have to provide a proforma invoice and declare the value and a schedual-B number for the shipment. Thats if you are going to be the shipper and consignee.

Dealing with customs can be a PIA if you do Air as well. I had to get my bumper and wing cleared through customs to make sure it wasn't a weapon of mass destruction.

That's a good one man. Quick Sidenote: Glassman, is your website w/ the racing videos only up at certain times of the day? Cuz I DLed a few of 'em, and when I tried to go back later on, I couldn't get to the page (I tried SEVERAL times).

Phil, PM me w/ the details. I may be able to help ya out

thats odd. you as a consignee never have to deal with the customs. Import department should be taking care of that.

I'm updating my DNS. The official page will be back with more in all of it's glory shortly.

Thanks!
I asked the Customs guy (who had a gun and everything) if he thought maybe Osama was hiding somewhere in my 99 spec bumper. Needless to say, he didn't find it funny

I'm still sorting out things, but you can reach it at http://ddearborn.dyndns.org:8080/ for now.
In retrospect, maybe I shouldn't have been such a smart @$$ as I always am. He did look at me kind of funny. Definitely took it way too seriously.

As for being a smarta$$, I know what you mean. I'm like that too...but I've learned VERY quickly not to even half joke when it comes to those guys. It's bad enough that they look at me like I'm bout to blow up something/someone cuz I'm originally from Egypt... You should see me at the airport. They have a freakin FIELD DAY w/ me :shaking his head:

Airports are the best, I'm always the one that's randomly searched. I must fit the profile of a terrorists or something. I like telling the ladies I have a weapon of mass destruction..... in my pants!

I use my moms PC with Dynamic DNS and an FTP server to host my pictures. I wish I could remember the program I use to automatically update the I.P. with the Dynamic DNS server. Are you on cable or DSL? How long are your leases? Roadrunner only leases an I.P. for 24 hours :/
