Need A Boost Controller? Which One?
I was doing some research and was told i still needed a boost controller besides the Power FC to tune my car properly. Is this true? If so, Im looking into getting a digital boost controller, I don't like the manual ones (bad experiences) Which one do you guys recommend, dosn't have to be flashy just funtional.

there was a past issue in SCC that compared about 7 electronic boost controllers.
the profect B had one of the flattest curves.

But yea, look at a used profec B or profec B spec II.

Sometimes the old methods are the best methods. GO WITH THE PROFEC B. It works virtually flawlessly on almost every system. You can purchase a used one for around $200. I have one, and I would never consider using a different controller.
Also, don't knock the ball and spring controllers. I used a couple for over a year before I upgraded to the Profec. They worked great with very predictable boost patterns. The only downside was not being able to switch to a different boost setting on the fly (this can be overcome with cables routed into the cockpit). But for less than $20 a piece, you really can't go wrong.
To the original poster: You may not need a boost controller with your PFC (kind of depends on your other mods). Many if not most people that run stock seq twins find that the PFC works perfectly fine.

I am just getting acquainted with my E-01. It supposedly gives you the capacity to smooth-out the boost pattern and it seems to be working. However, I repeat, I really am just getting acquainted with it.
I might be in the market for a boost controller now as well. I had planned to keep my turbos sequential until I get rid of them when the weather gets warm, but I'm considering the extra room I'll have for my fuel system and the quicker/simpler installation I'll have to deal with when my motor gets back. I know Blitz makes awesome electronics, and then the original Profec B is one, if not The, most reliable boost controllers out there. The only place I've been able to find the original Profec B's is from RX-7.com since they usually buy up loads of GReddy parts. The only problem there is that they've also jacked the price up closer to $400. What do you guys suggest for the latest/best alternative?

I dunno, I ordered a SBC i-D because of it's dual solenoids over the other EBC. It handles/controls the boost better. I chose it over the Profec B because some people were having problems with it's usability. The fully digital part on the SBC i-D looks very promising and I've seen it on my friend's WRX and it's ease of use is incredible. Not complicated at all
I dunno I haven't received the controller yet but once I get it installed I'll post some reviews about it.

But like I said before, you may not need a boost controller... hook up your PFC first, if you have problems controlling boost, THEN look in to a controller.

I've had personal experience with the Apexi AVC-R and the profec b. I've only really looked over the Blitz unit but it appeared to be too complicated for my tastes, that and the price turned me off to it.
The Apexi unit is ridiculously overcomplicated and I never really cared for it. The profec b on the other hand is an absolute breeze and I really like its simplicity and functionality.

What about the PFC boost control kit? I never hear too much about it..

I think a few people have tried it, with similar results to the Profec A. The PFC Boost Control kit uses fuzzy logic with a single solenoid controller (same as what's in the AVC-R). From what I've heard it's not nearly as good, acurate, or stable as the other controllers already mentioned in this thread.

In my opinion, you'd have to be on some seriously good drugs to consider buying that. $540 for a boost controller??? Are you freaking kidding??

Beleive it or not I was considering in future to get the E-O1, but you made me think diferent.

I'm usin right now a needle valve HD style, it works OK but the hasle of going out and udjusting, and being very carefull not to over boost doesn't fail.

Thanks.
What about the HKS EVC IV? I bought one but don't have my car running yet so I haven't done anything but take it out of the box and look at it. Anyone have experience with this one?
