I had a Greddy Spec B II boost controller, but lately it's been having problems and I have it disconnected and looking for a new one because if I WOT it's spiking to 13-14psi.

What are some good controllers out there?

 

im curious as well...im in the market for one. like the looks of the new hks evc boost controller....$553.00. is there a model that Apexi makes that works with the pfc?

I have the Greddy EO1. I have not used it yet but I like Greddy products and have not had a problem with any of their other electronic. I've herd excellent reviews on the Profec controllers

 

I don't know if it matters, but I do have a PFC.

Rick from Ricks Rotary suggested the HKS EVC 5 controller, but of course it's one of the most expensive ones but Rick really praises this controller.

 

Why don't you try using the PFC to control boost? It's free. Are you 100% sure there's not a problem with your installation? Maybe the solenoid just went bad.

 

If you read my other threads with the boost problems and all, it was my boost controller, at least that's what Rick told me. He ran everything back to stock with the pill and it pulls hard!

With the boost controller off, you should see 7psi. If you're seeing more than that, you've got something hooked up wrong, plain and simple.

The Profec B is a good boost controller - I don't see any reason to sell it for another. Regardless, another controller won't help anything if it's not plumbed in right - if you're getting that much boost, something is really not hooked up right, plain and simple.

The PFC can control boost, but the Profec B will be far superior. The PFC uses the stock boost control solenoids and pills, and at a certain point you'll have to start playing with pill sizes to prevent spiking. Screwing with pills IMHO isn't boost control, it's the dark ages.

I remember reading that a number of people (FD owners) had problems with the newer Greddy Spec B II EBC. The older version, or the type S (same thing really) seem to work great. It is a nice and simple unit that works.

 

Dale I'm not getting those spikes, the problem was the boost controller wouldn't giving me boost. Once I disconnected it and hooked up to stock lines, everything worked/pulled great. It's spiking because I don't have any kind of controller hooked up, not because of the controller.
