i'm about to change my thermo sensor and need to know if i can reuse the waterpump gasket? thanks

As a matter of general practice it is best NOT to reuse gaskets because used ones tend to leak and anything that could leak coolant and reduce your cooling capacity is NOT a good thing. Thats two NOT's in a single sentence. I suggest going with a new gasket.

Why are you taking off the water pump to put in a thermo sensor ?

Yea, you don't need to remove it.

The only gaskets you may want to reuse should be metal ones.

thanks guys i got the impression from my downloaded shop manuel that the water pump has to come off to be able to change the thermo sensor. where is the thermo sensor located? it looks to me like its behind the water pump.

Yes, it's on the firewall side. You should have easy access if you remove the alternator.
