need advice. building a 7 soon
ok guys i just bought a 93 fd. im gonna begin building it soon but i gotta admit i dont know as much about them as i thought. im reading everything i can and askin a lot of questions so please dont be annoyed. so i guess id like to ask you guys since youve been doin it for a long time and you really seem to know your stuff.
heres what i want to get from it. id like to sit somewhere around 400-450 hp. its got an exhaust i think its hks and a fresh rebuild. it does not have turbos manifold or downpipe so im thinkin about goin with a single set up. so i guess what im askin is from what ive told you about the car what am i gonna need and what am i to expect to spend to get the car to be a rocket at about 400+?
thanks for any help

what are you going to be doing with the car??? AutoX, Drag? Street car???
First figure this out. You can go totally different ways for differnt uses.
My car has a little over 430whp and it's set up for street, road racing. I'm using the APEXI RX-6 kit. It is a very smooth output turbo. Makes 15lbs at a little over 3.5k. I also have a full exhaust, streetported motor, bigger injectors, apexi pfc stand alone computer, apexi FMIC(going v mount in the summer) and various other things.
Do some research about what works and dosent work. This site is very informative. you should definatly be able to find what you need.

I would just get a single kit if you dont have the stock twins on the car. You can talk to sombody like A-Spec about getting the kit or piece together your own for a little cheaper. Here is a quick list that comes to mind
Engine Managment
Turbo Kit (Mani, Turbo, WG, DP)
Upgraded Fuel System
Intercooler
Boost Controller
You really diddnt post very much info about the car and what else it has. The list i mentioned is bare bones and you will need alot more stuff than that. I would just focus first on the reliabilty part if you just got the car, and worry less about the high HP.

Here's a nice write-up of what's involved to go single and some of the costs.

Otherwise, there is tons of upgrading info on the forum. Don't rush into this project. Take your time to learn what's involved, ie, don't expect you to get all the answers you need in just this one thread.

Not that I'm planning a swap anytime soon, but that has to be the best write up of a turbo install I've ever seen. Excellent photos and worth saving to the hard drive.
