Nardi Steering Wheel install help

I bought a 2000+ Nardi Torino steering wheel and I am trying to install it on my 94 r2. The airbag on the Nardi wheel has 2 red wires on the connector and the stock hook up has a red and grey wire, so my question is can I just clip the connector off my 94 and splice it to the two red wires on the Nardi? Does it matter which wire is hooked to each other or can I just splice either wire to each of the two red wires? I just dont want to install it, hook up the battery and have it blow off in my face.

I've been wanting to get the Nardi wheel but I have a question. Is there a direct hookup for the stock cruise control buttons?

tt_13b93,
You've got cruise control, but I don't see the steering wheel buttons? Did you just chuck the buttons?

I have the R2 model so I never had cruise control but I assume you can just hook it right up

I need some more help. I installed everything and connected the wires. When I hook the battery back up the airbag light will not go off. How do I get it to stop?

JerryD680,

So you got the Nardi wheel on? Lucky guy!
I'm still wondering about the buttons. Have you seen if there's a hook up for those buttons on the Nardi wheel?

If the light is showing on the dash, it has to mean the wires weren't connected properly, right?

Have you bolted the airbag back into the wheel, or were you testing before final assembly? If you have completely assembled it, make sure one of your pigtails hasn't worked loose after you closed it up.

As far as cruise control I purchase a Mazda3 wheel with cruise switchs. I pulled both wiring schematics for both cars and did my best to wire it properly, My cancel button actually sets the coast but it still works. Cruise cancels when I tap the brake, resets speed after hitting the resume.

You'll be real happy with the Nardi wheel, I love mine. That 10mm reduction in diameter makes a difference, and I never realized how ugly the stock wheel was until I got rid of it

as a point of safety you should never lay the airbag face down or hold it facing you. It could deploy and launch into your face.

I can't get the airbag light to stop blinking. I was wrong about it being a true Rx-7 Nardi wheel. I got jipped and bought the knockoff miata wheel. I Switched the two wires. disconnected the battery, pushed the brake pedal and the air bag light still blinks. I had to drill the notches out on the top and bottom. What else can I do to get it to stop blinking? Could the airbag just not be any good?

This is strange. Check your connections and try plugging in the old FD bag to see if the problem is something else. I have a Nardi wheel from a Mazdaspeed Protégé and it works fine. Details on are my site.
