nada on search..... Idle drop while braking

If someone could direct me to a related thread thad be great... cough cough *mahjik?* cough haha

Anyhow,
While braking, my idle drops quite low and even stalls out some times. Does anyone else have this problem??? I drained, refilled and bled my clutch line and brake lines and it still does it.
I'm quite confused with this one.
thanks
Edwin

I second this post. Does the rpms significantly change when you turn on the ac/lights/ etc. Sounds like an electrical problem to me. Perhaps someone else can chime in. It sounds like maybe theres a problem with the connection to the battery, shorted wires, bad grounds, or alternator.

If you do determine this is an electrical problem, theres probably shops in your area that can fix it.

One more thing, does it happen with BOTH brake and clutch in, or ONLY with the brake in?

It seems to be getting worse now. It happens with the clutch in or out and while braking. I think it might have to do with some settings I played around with on the pfc.

this has happened to me a few times, usually when the car was not fully warmed up.

Sounds like you need to adjust your throttle position sensor. Also, check your dashpot. It is probably out of adjustment, or worn out.

To me, it sounds like either the battery or the alternator. Go to Murray's for a free electrical diagnosis. It will definitely rule out the battery or the alternator if both of them pass the electrical tests. Very helpful for me. Good luck,

Craig

it's a setting in the Power FC. Can't remeber exactly what its called. Just mess around until you find it. You just have to bump up the setting for RPMs a little bit.

LOL Battery causing the car to die?

When you say "While braking" do you mean also coming out of gear? As in after having load at 5th gear and coming to a street light, you pull out into neutral (and "Brake") and then the rev's drop too low? Sounds like a dashpot problem...it's what I'm having and am attempting to fix right now.

If it's only when you brake, even while still in gear, it could be a number of things...but either case, check hoses, TPS, Dashpot, etc.

Ok here is an update.
Check valve---works
TPs--- is within spec.
Battery is strong and alternator is brand spanking new.
Vaccuum leak... I doubt it's that.
I don't have a/c .. so that can't be it

Idle speed control might be the problem
as well as dashpot.
and maybe something wrong with the brake booster itself.
Finally it could be car running way too rich in the low end and stalling itself out

ANNNNDDD before I could find out more... my turbos blew
so before I can find out anymore, I have to figure out what to replace my turbos with.
It's funny. they suddenly reached 1 bar at 4-5000 rpm when trying to pass someone, and SMOKE SCREEN!!!! hahahaha ... until then, the braking problem is on hold

My faulty dashpot did the opposite - engine wouldn't return to nomal low idle. Dashpots can fail either way.
