My new FD

So I picked up my second FD today. It's a 93 montego blue touring, with 87k on it. 17k on a mazda reman engine and turbos. I've been FD-less for about two years, and I'm happy to be back in the game as they say.

It's got a small boost issue, not really boosting at all in 1st 2nd or 3rd, but gets a nice strong 10 psi in 4th and 5th. (not sure about the 10-8-10, didn't take it to redline in 4th or 5th) A quick search under the hood and I found a broken check valve, the one going to the purge control solenoid. After fixing that, we'll see how it goes.

No pics yet, it's a bit dark out at the moment. Maybe tomorrow. I can tell you it is completely stock, including the battery cover... I didn't even know they had those.

Plans include a couple reliability mods, radiator, ast, that sorta thing. I might leave it stock for a while, it's nice to have one that works. Anyway, good to be back.

That's funny, I haven't seen you SN in forever. Glad to see you back, and congrats on the purchase.

Thanks. Yup, it's been a while. Had an expensive experience the first time around, thanks to a blown apex seal chewing up the already hurting turbos on the way through. I've got a little more knowledge this time, let's hope it goes better.

It's nice seeing an old SN again. Good luck with your second Financial Disaster.

I will certainly need it. I'm out of college now (got me a pair of degrees in Mechanical Engineering) so I've got a little more money to throw at it if need be.

The broken one on my car is the one way valve that goes to the "purge control solenoid" as it is labeled on the colored vac hose diagram floating around the forum. And thanks, I'm happy to be back.

Was that a question? I think I'll go 99 spec if anything, probably no rotors.

No GT2 for me, just a dream. I see that you own a 996, very nice.

congrats on the new FD. i think i saw you Thursday on rte. 20 on my way to Hebert's Candy Mansion. i saw a Montego Blue going the opposite way, and had to do a double take. i called you yesterday to see if you wanted to tag along with me to RotorFest. I have an open (read- great for racing, uncomfortable for long trips) passenger seat open, so let me know. If you wanna bring your new toy, that would be cool too. Let me know either way.

Good luck on the new build. i know if i was building my second FD, there would be a lot of things i would do differently. Im sure if it comes out anything like your first, it will be another well built car. The extra money won't hurt either. Speaking of extra money, Congrats on Graduating. That's good to hear.

take it easy, good luck, and we'll see you around.
