JUst a remark on something nobody bothered about.

The flanges from hotside to exhaust are a flat plate design. it would have been so much better if there was more room for the air to flow. Splitted exhaust and wastegate canal even better but that would have been a big deal to fit.
This design will force the wastegate airflow to interfere withe the exhaust airflow and creat turbulence which will slow down the spool up of the turbo's.

Not wanting to break down your big effort because it's a great job... just something I would have done different.

 

Yep, we talked about that during the manifold design phase. Too much complexity. I am not building a racecar - just a fun streetcar, so I really am not that concerned about it. I actually did look at using out of the box SR20 downpipes or WRX downpipes that had the same flange design, but plumbing all that crap together would be a major PITA. It's cramped enough with two simple 2.25" downpipes.

I am also a little weary of the fact that the runners on the manifold are extremely different in lenght.

Not to steal your thunder but here is my twin project. It's interesting to see where we have gone in different routes. I feel like some dousche on car domain sayin, hey your **** is cool but look at MINE, but again its neat to look at where we went differently.

I wouldnt quite say yours is at its full potential either. He simply has diffrent goals than you. He didnt want to waste alot of money and time on a complex setup. Also, if I recall correctly, he had his turbos just layin around or something. He knows the +'s to equal length runners and what not, he just didn't want it to become more complex and what not. Anywho both of you have very nice setups with room to improve if you want more power. Congrats to both of you!! It's really nice seeing people do their OWN work!! Also, your car is geared towards drag racing, while his is an enjoyable street car.

I did a similar setup, my manifold is within 1/2" of equal length, it will be done within the month

Where do you plan on running the intakes? All this talk about twin setups makes me wish my twin project was done.

Ive already got that setup to run near the oil coolers, I was originally going to run to an intake in the sleek lights, but changed my mine

i Would now like to have sex with that turbo setup...so i know you were talking a long time ago selling this setup ... and once again maybe i didnt catch it (its hard reading through 65 posts) but are you planning on selling this set up like before?

 

EGT's are averaging 900-1200 F. That would probably be fairly painful.

Well, considering that duplicating it would require removing everything and measuring it, no. I also said in my previous posts that I am a private hobbyist, this setup is untested, and I don't have the liability insurance to support it

If my motor blows anytime in the next two weeks (probably a chance that it will ), when I pull the parts off I will dimension them and post the specs so you can fab the stuff. That way you can spend money at your own risk.

Eh, back from the dead.

Just this Saturday afternoon I got everything put back together with my new improved oil drains. I am still going to bore one of them out to a slightly larger diameter to match the id of the -10 SS line that is running from the rear turbo. I am getting a touch of smoke from the oil seals at idle. That I can live with - the engine bay isn't on fire this time.

Otherwise, everything seems to be running great. I have got it set at 10 psi for now until I swap in some 1300cc secondaries and I must say it pulls like a bat out of hell. I have been taking it easy, putting around town with the occasional romp on the throttle which promptly puts the car sideways in gear < 4th.

Unfortunately my nice clean engine bay got pretty messed up by the dry-chem and the soot from the burning silicone. The dry-chem ate up the finish on my aluminum piping and my greddy elbow, so I've got some elbow grease to apply and it should look decent enough. If not, powdercoating time

I've got to get a boost control solenoid (my stock one broke and I trashed it) to wire up the wastegates; I need to finish fabricating a functional intercooler duct; add an intercooler cooling fan, get an undertray, replace the trans output shaft oil seal (is there one? I don't really remember, but i'm leaking trans fluid from the front u-joint area), do a radiator duct, do a lower-temp thermoswitch, get some 1300cc secondaries to go with this otherwise nice fuel system, vent the hood, and get the thing on a dyno.

 

LOL...and I thought my full non-seq. project was big! Wow nice fabricating job well done.
