My first track video

I made a little compilation video from last weekend at Summit Point. It's my first video so it's not great and the audio sucks, but it's still fun to watch. There's a fair bit of kit at these events and a lot of $$ cars, but an old FD without much in the way of go-fast mods can still hang with most of them Enjoy!

Michael (RE-Amemiya) is riding shotgun in some of the video. This was his first weekend driving on-track and he did a terrific job and soaked up everything he could learn like a sponge and put down some really consistent laps. Joe (Section8) also makes an appearance but he was having some oil temp and vacuum-related engine troubles early on. By Sunday there was no catching him at all though!

Pretty sweet. That was a nice mix of cars at the track too. What camera and mount did you use?

For the camera I copied DigDug and went with the Aiptek A-HD. It's an older model but I picked it up used on eBay for around $40. The tripod mount on my camera is broken, so I made an aluminum case for it that bolts up to a V S mount ( http://www.svtek.com/VS_Billet_Camera_Mount.html ).

I'm also using Adobe Premiere Elements. I like it because it's easy to use and reads the native .mov files the camera makes. What I don't like so much is its lack of support for many output formats. Even with extra codecs like DivX installed, Elements doesn't support multipass rendering so the output with ffmpeg, divx, xvid, etc. is basically garbage. What I've found is just outputting it back into an uncompressed Quicktime format, and then using a freeware program like VirtualDub to convert it to a DivX .avi file works fine.

I was using a trial of Corel Video Studio Pro x2 for a while. It was easy to use and supported lots of output formats, but it expired and I've been putting off buying anything. I also tried Vegas and it was very complicated and I couldn't get audio to work. I guess I should just buy Corel and use that.

Wow! great video! Thank you for sharing that. Really, I was quite impressed by the mustang there at the end. I was a great showing of many types of cars as well.

Thanks guys! I was happy to be able to overtake the new GT500 Mustang after a good fight there, but let's be honest, that track has 20+ turns in 2 miles and he was bone stock on original tires. All that power and nowhere to use it :P I only caught him because I can out-brake just about any street car with these new pads

Awesome video. Quality was top notch. WAtching the vid scared me. There were times where i thought you went into a corner too fast and you either would spin out or hit the wall or something lol.

But its either your driving skills or the FD is really that good

I wanna track my car soo bad

Matt a HUGE thanks for hosting my Dad and me for the entire weekend; we both had a really great time!!!! The ride-a-long was one of the best experiences of the weekend for obvious reasons.
