Thumbs up My FIRST Day at the Track (EVER)

Wow...what can I say! The most fun I've ever had for $12 with my clothes on!!!

Started out the day running 13.2 - 13.7 times on street tires. Swapped out for a set of ET Streets 26x10.5x16 mounted on stock wheels. MAJOR difference!!! Love em!

Best time of the day was 12.228 @ 113.96Mph (17psi)
Best trap of the day was 12.354 @ 114.45Mph (17psi)

Video of the 12.228 @ 113.96Mph run:

I did and it would wack out with the tires spinning, shifting through gears, etc. #'s in the 500 & 600hp range and I KNOW I'm not putting down those kind of numbers... It isn't like the gtech where you set it and run up to 100Mph and it gives you a peak HP number. The power meter says to do a 3rd or 4th gear pull and it shows an actual dyno curve.

I dyno next weekend, so I'll be better tuned then.

Not mounted yet. Laying on my passenger seat still.

I think I'm going to mount them in the drivers side visor.

yup, had to wear a helmet, anything quicker than 13.99

I have a dinky a$$ car stereo batter I use in my car. The only **** I got for that was from the tech inspector laughing and asking if that tiny battery actually started my car!

2 sec 60' with slicks is still pretty slow, with some practice launching I think you would be in the 11's.

Oh and what kinda cars we're you racing in those two runs? Just cruious, cuz those times were pretty respectable too.

I don't know what a driveshaft loop is, so I doubt I have one. Tech didn't even look under the car. It was import day and they weren't too serious about anything. Big NMRA sponsored track.

By their rules I'll need a cage @ 10.99

with your 3540 and drag et's youre only running 12s? i am a little dissapointed, i figured even with a stock ported motor you could hit 11's... and maybe even 10s with a street port. but wait, this was your first time? i should be impressed, a 12.2 is quick! hope to see some 10s with the pinapple motor and about 20psi keep us updated...

those are pretty good numbers man, but they *should* be better, right?

after your tuning session and a few more runs, minus the nervousness, you should be running high elevens. no doubt.

are you still using the 2 row fmic? if so, are you boosting out of the efficiency range by going to 17psi?

maybe slightly lower will see an improvement...

i dunno. still, nice numbers.....the ported engine from p'apple will help the upper end while that turbo is pulling harder...

Ya, this was my first day down a drag strip in my life, so I had a steep learning curve! To come down from a 13.7 to a 12.2 in one day make me feel VERY good.

I'm sure the car is a mid 11 second car now, I'm just not a mid 11 second driver yet. Oh there is a bit of HP (40 - 50rwhp) I left on the table with 10.2 - 10.5 AFR's and only running a 8 degree splie, mostly due to not wanting to tune too close to the edge w/the OZ-DIY Wideband having never compared it to a "standard" WB.

r_xplicit: my intake temps were never > 40C, even with a few nearly back-to-back runs. My water temps only once peaked 90C. I think the 2row is working fine for me now. Today was a perfect day here in Ohio...relatively low humidity and a high of 72.

10's, Yup, I would love to turn a few of those, just not sure I have enough time *this season* to see them.

You had some NICE runs today, Kyle. It was KICK **** running half a dozen runs with you. The guys running the track were always smiling at us...they knew we caught the bug.

It has been 20 years since I was last on that particular 1/4 mile track. I can't believe I forgot that feeling. It feels good!

For these *kinda* giving Kyle sheet about the times of the runs...don't. Unless you got alot better slips your first time out.

BTW...I was the car Kyle was running both times. I was car number 868 but they typo'ed it one time to 866. That run was MY best launch and 60ft time (missed 3rd) and got a 13.3. The 2nd run I luanched too low and bogged for a 12.8. My Best R/T was .552, and the best run for me was a 12.5 @ 111.5. Now to bring all thoses things together for some 11's!

First time with this car, ever to a track. With Et Streets. 1bar boost.

Good job but she has ALOT more in there! That mph would indicate about 340-350 rwhp.

Hey K,

What rpms are you launching at? And what tire pressure are you using in them? Are you doing a burnout too?

I have my first track event tommorrow with them...(MT"s ET Streets too)
we are at 2300ft above sea level and it's really cold out
now. 13 degrees celcious. Canada...
