My first accident

Well on my way home today I had a run in with a Chevy Malibu. I was at a light and it just started to sprinkle so I took it easy off the light, as I shifted into 3rd and hit a slight amount of boost the slick roads caused my tires to loose traction and I sliped into the other lane. If only the Malibu werent there I would have no problems now but instead he was, and I am left with a dented and dinged up rear driver side quarter. Worse couldve happened because he spun across 2 lanes of oncoming traffic without any collisions but his car seemed to have alot more damage than mine so looks like my insurance is going to skyrocket. The car is still driveable but it will prolly cost me 500 - 600 to have fixed up. Just thought Id share with you my first accident and REALLY hope last.

I'm sorry. You should have been more careful though. It wouldn't have happened if you weren't getting on it. You can drive the car and never make boost. I realize its hard to do but you can...

sorry to hear bout the accident bro

thank god for me, i dont think i'll ever slip in the rain for 2 reasons..

one, im non seq and im smart enough not to exceed that rpm to start hitting boost

and second, i dont drive the fd in the rain, AT ALL, NEVER!! lol

funny my car goes straight in the rain when im losing traction. Sure if you continue to hold the throttle down when you notice it then it will drift to one side. Sorry about your accident just be a little more careful I guess

Get a cluepon. You don't lose traction in third gear and side swipe another car while "taking it easy".

How many times we gotta say it.

Rain + Boost = Loss of rear tire traction.

If you're in the rain, do NOT generate boost. I personally have seen loss of traction with even slight boost on slick roads (especially concrete). Positive pressure raises the torque levels quickly and a slick road won't support this.

I've lost traction taking a left in the rain before, taking it easy, but I never hit anything. **** happens, especially if his car started hydroplaning.

I agree with you there! But hey I feel ya man, sorry to hear. I was in an accident too a while back but not in rain and it was while I was cruising in 5th down the street from my house going about 35-40 mph on my way to work. Just look at it as it could've been worse, such as death. But at least your ok, hopefully the other guy isn't going to turn around and say his neck started hurting the day after or something like that. Hope everything goes well for ya.

At least nobody was hurt. Oh well, sorry to hear about your losses. Oh well, it's a good excuse to get your hands dirty and fix your car. Next time, you should be careful. (I probably should like your mother.)

If you lost traction that badly shifting into 3rd IN A STRAIGHT LINE, then you were:

a) getting on it "pretty good"
b) have bald shitty tires
c) don't know how to drive
d) various combinations of above

Sorry to hear about your accident, but it doesn't sound like you learned a lesson at all. What shape are your tires in and what model are they?

It's another "Im 19, boosted, and crashed my car" thread.

I really don't understand why people can't take it easy when the roads are slick. It's not that difficult to show a little restraint, and common sense.

I hope you learned something, and I'm glad you didn't destroy your car, or get hurt.

I was going to laugh at that comment but I thought, "you know, I could laugh now and then God spits on me as soon as I get my car back."

So, instead of laughing, I will just smile at the above comment and say, sorry, but be more cautious next time.

I was thinking about that too. That's damned cheap if that will fix your car and have it looking good again for being an accident estimate.
